Exclamation New points scoring format

For 2020 we will be adopting a new scoring system for both Group and PAX championships. Below are details on the new system from the change proposal.

The 1000 Point System

By moving to a 1000 point system we will be able to gain a detailed understanding of the competition on any given day. Times will be used to reward performance rather than relying on finishing position alone.

Scores will be calculated based on this formula:

1000 x (fastest indexed or raw time) / (your fastest indexed or raw time)

Example: First place (1000pts), Second (957pts), Third (956pts).

In this case, driver X was fastest with a time of 27.547. Fastest time = 1000 points.

Driver Y was second with a time of 28.773. 1000 x (27.547) / (28.773) = 957.39 (957 points)

Driver Z was third with a time of 28.814. 1000 x (27.547) / (28.814) = 965.02 (956 points)

In the event of a points tie the finishing position will be awarded to the faster time.

Moving to this system will tighten up competition as well as reward exceptional performance.

Thumbs up

Sounds good. So 1000 is basically like 100%, and if you get 500 points that’s essentially double the time of the fastest run. Is placing within each class based on the fastest time of the class? Or the fastest time of the day? Maybe it doesn’t make a difference, as placing order is probably still the same regardless, since your relative indexed time would still fall in the same order whether it’s relative to the fastest time of the day or the fastest time of your class (I think)

Very good, should be a better indicator for sure.

Scoring is based on the fastest PAX time, not fastest raw time. Within competition groups, again fastest PAX time is used to show how far back the competition is...
For local classes that don't use the PAX factor, raw time will be used (Vintage and Street Unlimited, both lightly attended classes).
