Default Event 14 and 15 Location?

Where is event 14 and 15 being held? Looking at this link straight off the main site, the location is not included.

Kraig we will be out at reno/fernley raceway setting an auto-x course up on top in the area called the peanut.....come on up, and drag the old fuddy-duddy Scott up also....Pat....here is the info.....

Soloists: Reno-Fernley Raceway will host our Aug. 16-17 events!by Jim Gandy at 12:48 pm, Jul 29It's finally official: Reno Region will initiate a brand-new Solo site on August 16-17. We'll be on the road course at Reno-Fernley Raceway for two days of autocross action! There's a loop of track called The Peanut that's almost a half-mile long, and we'll use slaloms, chicanes and Chicago boxes to keep speeds in the same range we see at Stead. Everything will run like a regular Solo event -- the published run groups will be used, and we'll even be able to paddock on an adjacent section of track. Overnight camping will be okay. We hope this is the first of many Solo events at Reno-Fernley Raceway, and as the facility grows, there should be other suitable Solo sites on the property. The raceway is just a half-hour from Reno/Sparks, so make plans to come out and see the newest thing in Reno Region Solo!

Default Rd 14 & 15 details needed

As I understand it, site access during the day will have restrictions due to other portions of the track being used. Can someone please tell us what those will be? What time do we have to be onsite and when can we leave? What about mid-day access to the site? Can we leave our trailers in the paddock area overnight or will we have to move them? Inquiring minds need to know so that we may all plan accordingly....

Nothing can be decided until the event weekend, but I anticipate that we will have open access from the Paddock to the upper course until about 8:30. Once the other event gets started, we will have various times to cross (in between every other run group most likely) but we will have to wait in between. The track steward wil help us to organize this. I plan to have at least an hour of open access mid-day as the other group hits lunch. The times required are like any other autocross, so I would ask that people show up by 8AM to be sure to get up to the upper course before the first closure.

All of our trailers, campers and rv's can park along the upper straightaway, adjacent to where our course will be set. The track has agreed that vehicles, trailers and RV's can stay safely up there overnight.

Thanks Matt, that's the kind of info I was looking for. I'd hate to see anyone get shut out and risk missing their runs this late in the season.
Is paddock on the pad area ajacent to the peanut, or will that be part of the course as well?

Good info about rv's, trailers, etc. As many of you know, John and I will be staying onsite per usual in the RV's.

The plan is to use the pad up top as part of the course, due to it's small size. We're planning to use the top straightaway as paddock, grid.

Here's some more info about how the event will operate...

Except for the change of location, it'll function like we do at Stead. Registration and tech will be in our paddock/grid location near the course up on the hill. You won't have to sign waivers or anything UNTIL you've arrived at our site.

To get to our site, you'll drive out to Reno-Fernley Raceway (5 miles south of Fernley on U.S. Highway 95-Alternate). Then, follow the signs to the road course -- that will get you to the road course paddock area. Next, proceed towards the south end of the paddock -- we should have a sign or two to tell you where to line up and wait for track personnel to indicate it's safe to enter the road course. When you're directed to go, you'll just follow a sequence of arrow cones that will guide you onto the road course and up to the upper portion of the course, where our site is.

Our site will be congested, there's no denying it, so we hope everyone's careful and cooperative. It'll be like paddocking on a 45-foot wide street with wide, smooth dirt areas on either side. We want towing rigs to set up off the pavement as much as possible, hopefully with their trailer ramps allowing competition cars to unload onto pavement (a lot like in the road course paddock, if you've been there before). Entrants who drive their cars to the event can park on the edges of the pavement. The idea is to leave a two-way driving lane in the middle of the "street."

For towing rigs, we'll have an area at the head end of the paddock (closest to the course) where they can do a U-turn. Of course, motorhomes and other rigs are welcome to stay in position all weekend -- camping is permitted in our paddock area.

If you've been there before or have studied maps of the site, you'll see that there's a loop of the road course that comes close to the southwest corner of our course area. That would be another great place to paddock -- it's a good spectating spot, and it'll be close to registration.

If you drive your car to the event and you don't have a lot of gear to deal with, a good plan would be put your car directly on the appropriate grid. Grids will be at the north end of the Sunset Straight. You'll be able to grid your car before registering -- unlike at Stead, we don't have a gate to serve as a checkpoint, and the grid is a significant distance from the actual course. So, our only "restricted area" will be the course itself. We'll be rigorous about checking for wristbands at Start.

We expect Reno-Fernley's usual foodsy-wagon to set up in our paddock. They have reasonably-priced drinks, snacks, burgers, etc (I like the pulled-pork barbeque sandwich).

We'll have three porta-potties at the site.

The event schedule, meaning start times and so on, will be exactly the same as at Stead. We'll try for the morning driver's meeting at 8:45, first car out at 9. Because it's a new site, we might miss it a bit, but that's our goal. Run groups are as-published: Saturday BYGW, Sunday WBYG. All our usual niceties, like Novice class and Run No Points, will be available. Fun Runs? Maybe...

Access in and out of our site during the day will be controlled. There is no actual event on the lower road course this weekend, but there may be some test&tune runners. Reno-Fernley Raceway personnel will be in communication with us, and we'll arrange for times when people can come and go. Just expect that you may have to wait a bit. Afternoon runners, you might think of coming out a little early, especially on Saturday. By Sunday, we'll probably have the kinks ironed out.

For those who are interested, we'll probably conduct "track tours" during the lunch break and after the last runs -- you'll get to experience the lower road course in your own car -- speeds limited, following a pace car. It'll be free.

I hope this info helps. Remember, this is a new thing, so help us out by cutting everyone a little extra slack. Come on out and just have fun!

Default Solo This Weekend At Reno-Fernley Raceway

Carol & I have recieved a few questions about the Solo this weekend.

The Solo (Autocross) will be held this weekend at Reno-Fernley Raceway on the Peanut located within the upper portion of the Road Course.

The Track will allow overnight RV parking Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings but there will be no (zero) hook-ups so come prepared.

Access to the Peanut will be available Friday all day and into the evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. Enter on the main track road and proceed to the Road Course Paddock. Stop at the Administration Building (on the left just inside the paddock) and check in and sign the track waiver. Dan (or the security guard in the evening) will assist you with directions and clearance to the Peanut. On Saturday and Sunday lower road course will be open for Test so you may need to wait a few minutes before you are allowede to cross the track and go up the Waterfall to the Peanut. Dan may hold you until there is more than one vehicle needing to cross but it should not be a long wait.

We will have radio contact with the Track so we can get clearance to leave the Peanut.

There is a dirt road around the Road Course but it is very dusty and full of stones & rocks. Track management recommends we use the access described above.

Note: If you arrive late in the evening on Friday you may need to remain in the Paddock overnight and then move up to the Solo area Saturday morning.
