Default Truckee Tahoe Airport Solo event Oct 2-3

Plans for the next solo event at Truckee airport are taking shape. Jim Gandy is in Wisconson designing the course, the contract has been signed, we have the details for the event. RV parking is $20.00 per night at the airport and there is also a campground several miles away, http://www.hikercentral.com/campgrounds/114206.html Hampton Inn is down the road from the airport. Renee is putting up flyers about the event and I will be putting an article in the Sierra Sun newspaper so hopefully we will have lots of drivers show up. We are using the old long term parking lot and will have signs up so it should be easy to find. The run groups are posted on our web page.

The campground is just east of the airport. It's called Alpine Meadows Campground. It's right beside Martis lake...it costs $16.00/night... Let me know if you want a spot and I'll
ask the ranger if we can save it... I'll be there Friday afternoon setting up my tent...

I like this forecast for Truckee better. Since it does not snow in the 40 and 50s there should be no need for snow tires. Then again some need to go over Donner to get to Truckee and you know how Caltrans likes to put up the chain control at the first hint of snow.

Good thing I have all-season tires on my car, maybe the only good thing about A/S tires though.

That's a much better forecast, I'll still bring a sweatshirt just in case.

Default run groups clarification

I hear there's a couple of different run group listings on our website. For the record, here are the run group orders we will be using this weekend at Truckee:

Saturday, YGWB

Sunday, BYGW

As is our usual practice, Novices and Run No Pointers can run in the morning and/or the afternoon.

This is the pad that will be used at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport. Not sure how much of the pad will be used for the solo, but it is approximately 450' by 900' in size. The airport has a new parking area for aircraft making this pad available for solo.

Thanks Darrell.

Not much in the way of lunch spots around there? Bring our own?

And, due to continued I-80 construction, we should plan on a few extra minutes of travel time.

Sunday - High: 44 Low: 22 - AM Snow Showers
Monday - High: 52 Low: 24 - Mostly Sunny

Everything's Pat's fault. Looks like I'll be driving / sliding a Forester on Sunday.

What are the chances that Sunday will be canceled due to snow? I'll be checking this thread before leaving Stead, that's for sure.

So, I'll be able to get out of work by 11 tomorrow, so I will make it in the afternoon. Looking forward to seeing the new venue.

After reviewing the results, it seems someone ran in the SM class and my name got placed there. I only ran novice and rnp. Maybe someone knows the missing name (I know it can't be me, the times are off).

Hope the weather is good for tomorrow.

There was second competitor in CS running a silver NB Miata on street tires. I didn't find him in the results. I believe he and his companion were from California.
