Default August Solo Event Registration

Does anyone know when the registration will be open for the August Solo event?

Only the Sept. Thunder Hill event is on Motorsportreg.

Default Newbie - looking to get involved

Hi all!

I'm interested in getting into Autocross; it's something I've been wanting to do for a while. I do not have a car. Well, I do have a car - but not for Autocross (I have a Subaru Forester lol). Now that I am fairly certain I'll be able to stay in Reno for a while, I've started looking for a used Miata or something similar so I can get started in autocross.

Mainly I wanted to ask what I can do now - I see there is an event this weekend. Is that something I can volunteer at or maybe get to ride around the course and see how it's set up and what the process entails? I volunteered at a few autocross events when I lived in Vegas but that was years ago.

I am a beginner in all aspects of the word so I welcome any tips, suggestions, etc on getting started.

Thanks!
-Brenda

Drive what you got, Its you and the clock, you don't need a special car.

I could do for one or two...I'm not really looking to beat up my daily driver in autocross though.

I used to have a RAV4 and that wasn't allowed (at least the one time I tried) because of the height vs. wheelbase...I take it that's not an issue with the Forester? Or there's not limitations like that anymore/here?

Actually, the Forester might not satisfy our rule set because of height, etc. But please come on out this weekend and hang out and watch if nothing else. You can get rides from a bunch of different cars to help you decide on what you might want to get for yourself, and extra volunteers are always welcomed. Feel free to ask questions and soak in all in, but remember it will be hot out there.

Ah ok, I wondered if the Forester would even be allowed. Yeah that sounds good! I'll come out and check it out this weekend. Thanks!

There have been Foresters that have run in the past, but they were lowered on WRX suspension or aftermarket coilovers/springs. A lowered Forster is basically just a boxy Impreza wagon, so certainly it's allowed/safe. But at the original ride-height, you're right, I don't think it meets the rules.
