Throw Back Thursday!

This one time, Kevin Weiss let me drive his Blue Beast Wagon during the 2014 Tire Rack National Tour at Crows Landing. It was awesome other than coning away my fastest run on day two. Here is the run in question.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3djCcGm0cec

Someday I will have an SM car...but not today. Thanks again to Kevin Weiss!

More videos from the past. This time, from the 2015 Crows Landing National Tour.

Rachel's best run from day one of the Tire Rack SCCA Crows Landing National Tour. Nice and smooth and ended up with a commanding lead in class at the end of day 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtIo...ature=youtu.be

Josh's best run in his STR S2000 from the same event on day 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO9R...ature=youtu.be

My best run on day 1 in Rachel's RX-8. Good for 6th in class.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2zu...ature=youtu.be

If you haven't had the chance to make it to Crows Landing.....you should. It is always fast and fun. The RX-8 was hitting 68mph in the back sweeper on both days. Plus the surface has lots of grip as long as you avoid the paint. Plus, the event is very well managed. Let's get a group for next year's National Tour and show them what Reno Region can do!

Also, if you are a double driver car, you'll need to have at least 3/8th's of a tank. There is no fuel on site and it's a bit of a drive to the nearest station. Kevin and I learned this in 2014 and Rachel and I realized just how much fuel the RX-8 can use on a long fast course this past year.

So a couple weeks ago, my co driver Rachel and I went to Packwood Washington for a Tire Rack SCCA Solo Championship Tour event. Rachel managed to win her C Street Ladies class by a good margin and I was able to hang with some tough competition for second place in C Street Open . Sorry for the procrastination on my part but here is some action from Packwood.

Rachel's fastest from day one:

Rachel's fastest from day two that put her solidly in the lead overall:

For some reason my fastest from day one won't load. So, here is run three from day one with a big mistake early on:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9GVzhmYrVE

My fastest run from day two which was only good enough for second place. Those guys from the North West sure are fast!

As always, thanks to Rachel Kerswill for being a great friend and letting me drive her RX-8!

After even more procrastination, I have finally found some time to edit a couple more videos.

Here is one from last weekend's "Pumpkin Dash". Just a regular old Corolla chasing down an EVO-X and trying to reel in Harry and Ian's BMW's.

Thanks Tom! I'll keep working on it. I still feel like I have a long ways to go. But I'll definitely be out there practicing until I get it (mostly) right!

This one time, Rachel Kerswill and I got to help Mazda develop the new 2016 MX-5. The ND MX-5 driven here is an STR trim car set up by Long Road Racing. These are the same people who are currently building the new MX-5 cup cars available from Mazdaspeed. The car was absolutely fantastic! If I had cash for a new autocross or track car, the new MX-5 would be on top of the list. Here are a few of our first runs captured on the Garmin Virb. The videos also show the GPS and telemetry capabilities of the Virb which I know a lot of people are interested in. Videos marked with an A are mine, while videos marked with an R are Rachel's. Any strange noises coming from the car are likely tires rubbing on the fender liners.
