Default Tire suggestions

Anyone have any good suggestions for a performance all season tire? For some god-awful reason, Honda decided Bridgestone Ecopia's were a great choice for factory all seasons. Needless to say these econobox/hybrid tires aren't lasting very long and I may need new ones before winters end.

The Subaru folks talk about this all the time. Kumho Ecsta 4x is probably going to be your best bang for your buck. If you want to spend more and maybe get a little better all around performance, the Conti DWS is the way to go.

Remember, the word performance in general means less tire life. Flintstone wheels will last forever, but handle like crap. Softer rubber with siping and water channels will wear faster but handle better.

Jason, I run the Conti DWS on the MINI and it can handle all types of conditions, including some snow and ice. For an all-season on a FWD car, they are impressive. I love those tires.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not at all worried about spending a little more for better tires specially for the winter, I would just like them to be available through tire rack so I could use my shops account (about 30% discount)
While I agree about performance and shorter life, its to an extent. The ecopias are so low performance though they are wearing remarkably fast. Either that or maybe they are the wrong load range? The civic is actually really heavy for its size, a bit over 3,000 pounds. I have been running my autox tires more and more on the street ( RS-3's ) because I'm actually getting better life out of those. I will say the ecopias handled the snow fairly well for the one snowstorm they experienced, but they will be lucky to see 15K, and I really don't drive that aggressively on the street.

Another +1 for the Conti DWS. We have them on my wife's outback. They're awesome. A little pricy, but worth the money IMO. Fantastic "sporty" all season tires.
