Default Web site change suggestions

There's been a bunch of talk about how people want our Region's web site updated, but most of it is generalized as simply "make it better". So, I'm asking you - those of you who currently use it most often - what "make it better" means: Easier, simpler, better looking, more pictures, more stuff, less stuff???? Once we get a more fixed idea what everyone is looking for it will easier to task our hard working, but willing, web guru Scott with crafting it.

I actually really like our website ,but that may be in part due to I'm used to the lay out so now i know where everything is..

Maybe adding "the next event" somewhere prominently at the top

maybe a rotating banner that has a picture of club members . pics with a club member and their car, mostly of us racing (autox, track, pdx, rallyx, and even the cruises)

The UI is nice and the site is easy to navigate. I do agree that it could use a visual overhaul and more pics. Most of all I would just suggest to update it more. The solo hompeage top headline is about preregistering for the school. Seems like all the homepages are about 4 months behind.
Maybe post some results, keep it updated, have a driver or car of the month or something like that.

*Web Designer For Hire*

I'd love to help with the UI. Just built a forum-based website for a local car club and I've always thought this SCCA site needed some eye candy It needs to look more modern and should be easier to navigate. We should have a gallery/media section of some sort on the main site so that visitors don't have to dig through forums to find some visual depiction of the sports / events that Reno SCCA puts on.

The colors are very bland as well and just to put it out there, a darker themed website would be more efficient and energy saving!

Let me know if you'd like some help!

Snoshado,

Did you make this up?

"The colors are very bland as well and just to put it out there, a darker themed website would be more efficient and energy saving! "

Also,

A minor quibble, but I would challenge anyone to use our website and quickly puzzle out the time they should be at the AutoX venue and a minimum time commitment for both morning and afternoon sessions.

Just noticed, this plea for participation was posted in June. Any further developments?

Guess I need to get to the monthly meeting once in a while :-(.

Default New web site

This new web site is so much simpler, cleaner and easy to navigate. Even people that are first timers can find what they are looking for. To whoever designed this...Good job and thanks!!

The biggest issue I had when I started was figuring out the terminology.

I knew I wanted to autocross, and maybe do a track day, and I was confronted with all these terms I didn't know. Solo, PDX, club trials, time trials, where do I fit in all of this? I actually ended up googling these terms trying to figure it out. If you put in google, "what is a pdx", nothing helpful comes up.

So my only suggestion is to put some things into lay mans terms, and then when people find their category start bringing I the correct lingo.

I attempted to specifically address that sort of concern with the new "Get Involved" programs page.

It's the first page you see when visiting the site for the first time, and it includes a short description (hopefully in plain english instead of racer-esse) of each program. Clicking on the blurb switches the center stack to display a descriptive photo of the program, a more detailed description of the sport, and a list of frequently asked questions about the program.

We still need more and better FAQs for each program. And I'm open to suggestions if any of the current blurbs/descriptions can be improved.

My browser skipped me past that. Let me figure out a way to see the page. It sounds like what you did was exactly what I had in mind.

New look is great! Easily navigated and I like the thumbnails for each SCCA groups. I look forward to more pictures in the future, too.

Did you just have the /forums directory bookmarked and went straight to the forums or something, or are you having an actual issue with the site not showing the main page?
