Wendover events

Following our Solo events #2 and 3 this weekend at Stead, we'll have a 4 week break before the Memorial day weekend's events.

For those who can't get enough autox, or for those who want to compete at a national tour or Pro Solo, or for anyone who just likes being around fast cars and fast drivers, there are 2 weekends of national solo events at Wendover, NV (at the state line with Utah), in May. Wendover is about a 6.5 hr drive from Reno. They have a large site, concrete surface, and plenty of hotel rooms and food choices amongst the 4 or 5 large casinos there.

May 15-16 is the Western States Championship - a national tour with an added opportunity for those wishing to contend for SCCA's Solo triple crown award. The following weekend May 22-23 is the Wendover Pro Solo.

Arrived home at about 8:30p, tired but happy about the weekend's experiences at Wendover.

In brief: the courses were huge, the grip was amazing, the weather stayed nice, the competition in several classes was fierce, with some amazing drivers putting down some amazing times. And yet, the pace of this event was relaxed, so there was plenty of time to socialize and make new friends.

Dave finished 2nd (of 6 drivers, 2 trophies). His co-driver Bruce Schlaebitz, former RE of Montana Region, finished 3rd. There were no other CSL drivers, so by default I finished 1st.

Will post more about the event after I get some rest. Can't wait to return next week for the ProSolo.
