View Full Version : Where is a good local shop to buy a race helmet?

Now that I am getting more serious about solo-ing I need to buy my own helmet... But there is less then a week until the next races. Because of this time constraint I was hoping to find a local store with competitive prices that will have snell certified helmets.

If anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreciated!

Where are you, Reno - Carson? Go to a large motorcycle shop, there's a good one down on South Virginia Street (Michael's I think) that has a large selection of Snell M rated helmets (you only need a Snell M-rated, M2000, M2005, or M2010). You can get HJC's for around $100, less for open-faced.

You could also use a loaner for a few events an then get a helmet as the 2005s go on sale and the 2010s start showing up in quantity.

Also, find what size fits and order on-line that way.

Yeah i have a loaner right now, I'm borrowing my Fathers, but he is thinking about coming out on Sunday so I need to step up and get my own. I do have a motorcycle helmet which is DOT approved but I cant find any certification sticker inside to give me a regulation year. So it looks like im heading off to Summit Racing or Michaels

If you can't find one in time, we have loaners available on site. So don't be afraid to take an internet deal if it saves you money.

I have an extra. It's guy-sized and not stinky. Will bring it in case. It will be in the trunk of the yellow S2000.

...It will be in the trunk of the yellow S2000.But hopefully not while you're driving the course!

I've left stuff in my trunk before. I've heard of people leaving their air tanks in there, coolers, speakers, all kinds of stuff. lol!
