You can see in the 1967 schedule (from april news letter) there was a Donner Hill climb! I've heard this is for vintage bike, but they allowed Karts. Brent Blakely was telling me the karts can hit 100 mph up "the old 40" think he was talking to someone who has raced in that.
Not sure what it was exactly back in 67 .. ? auto hill climb?
I've been told buy some elder folks in truckee that the Reno SCCA used to do Ice racing on donner lake (70s maybe?) anyone have information on this?
At least two Reno rallies were ran under the SCCA Pro Rally in 81 and 82

Before coming back to Nevada I was active in the Pennsylvania Hill Climb Association activities. Hill climbs are exhilarating and test driving ability (especially avoiding driving off a cliff). I would like to see hill climbs scheduled.

Yes, in '67 there was a Reno Region hillclimb on the old Donner Pass road. I have some good info on it, courtesy of the region's archives. Look for a newsletter article about it soon.

Actually, they were still running the Donner Hillclimb somewhere around 10 years ago (possibily a different road). One of the guys in the Reno kart club ran there.

That's cool, I grew up there (left because of the weather). I've been to Hershey a few times and went to college in Williamsport. I can't remember the name of the climb in Williamsport but that road was a favorite for a late night run.

I was at the first Georgetown Hillclimb in 1957. Not as a driver. I did drive in a couple in the 1960s though. A lot of fun, but they could be dangerous. I seem to recall that SCCA does not sanction hillclimbs for that reason.

SCCA does sanction hill climbs it’s under the time trials rules. Some clubs on the west coast run under the North West hill climb association. I ran the redwood sports car club Lord Ellis hill climb when I was 16 in a VW bug. They now run the Hoopa event, I drove the white car in it last year

Skyhorse,
Wait a couple of years. I have a 2+ mile paved road in mind that might be available for use as a hillclimb. At this time we are working on getting through the environmental process to rehabilitate the roadway including minor widening and installation of guardrail. No houses that access the roadway once you leave the community served by the road. Construction probably will not occur until 2012.

Old Rallyist, very cool, I've done Hoopa past 9 years, anything you might get going, I'll be there and there are 7-10 folks in Sacramento that would be interested. You up for some rallycross?
