Well, next weekend is coming up quick for me. I'm still attempting to get in a tuning day before Saturday and still need to order an air filter. What are everyone elses plains and what changes if any are you making to your cars? Note from the wife... she said it was good for me to loose so bad and I agree.
Did you lose an air filter? Something resembling one 1/2 the size or so of a red bull can was found somewhere and is in the bus in my driveway.

My car was clean for the first event, but will be dirty for the second.

I finally have a car of my own that is more or less autocross ready. I had forgotten what that was like.

just change the gearing on the kart....and wash the Miata(good for at least 2 seconds). Maybe walk the course....put on my driving shoes instead of boots....find extra grip so I wont spin @ the finish:)

In the last week I have (in more or less chronological order)
Removed and reinstalled carbs to get rid of the odd rubber washers the former owner had put under the mounting nuts and to squirt myself in the eye with the accelerator pumps
Disassembled distributor found broken advance spring reassembled dist from two I had laying around
When I turned the motor over by hand noticed the crank pulley bolt had come loose and sheared the key had to install a new pulley (thanks Nissan for the key and the organ donor in my back yard for the other parts)
Installed the Subaru limited slip differential (the rear end is apparently the very first component installed when they manufactured the car so some custom fitting with a large hammer is required )it needed new u-joints in the driveline -at least the four in the half shafts where done last year
Unbent the tongue jack on the trailer, technically not part of the car but very important when one of my expert repairs goes horribly wrong
I had to keep chanting I love Datsun’s I love Datsun’s to stop myself from going and buying a Miata

I almost forgot about the cool 1600 valve cover that I cleaned up and put on just so I could remove it again because the gasket leaked
And with any luck my roll bar will show up this week

If we get a chance, can I test fit those? I think those coiolvers give me crazy room in the rear. Like, 255 room with fender rolling.

WOW!.. I removed my main jet today. I looked at it and thought it read 400 but no that could not be. Had the neighbor read it and yep it read 400. I'll be testing with a 170 on Thursday with a K&N filter not the pinkish red airbox that I had. She should be a totally different beast.:D

I tried painting my nails to match my green car last time but it didn't make me go faster. My hairdresser is convinced that if I let her put green stripes in my hair I will pick up some speed. Not that desperate yet....

I just happen to have the specs sitting here for my full race TT500 Yamaha flat track motor it has a 38mm Mikuni round slide and it only runs a 310 main the only time I have run a 400 main is on a open class Yamaha 465 two stoke I know manufactures size there mains differently so just make sure you don’t melt it down by going to small “it went like hell right before it seized”

Derrick, you need to contact me ASAP. It appears you have a Mikuni carb, not a Keihin. The jet sizes I gave you were for a Keihin carb. I doubt they will interchange bases on conversations I have had with John today after I saw your post.

Well, you caught me in time. I just made it home from work and I did not blow anything up with too small a jet. Sounds like another trip to Reno to return the little buggers. Thanks for the quick warning.

I got my car back from subaru . (My car has been pushing coolant out of the engine/turbo/radiator into the over flow, and then not sucking it all back in) They said it was running at 205F, and they changed the thermostat and that its all better now. I'm not 100% convinced but i'm almost out of waranty :|
Oh I'm getting an alignment Friday @ C & C. Think i'll ditch my cross camber and cross Toe and get me one of those fancy symmetrical alignments you know, where your left front matches your right front. Maybe i'll check my air filter too

Yes, and not very good.
Beg to differ, I drove Randy's A stock car on 710's in a downpour at Lovelock and put down fast stratch for A stock. It was a dirty run, but had it been clean it would've given me the class win over John Perry who was on street tires. 710's hook up very well on a wet surface and can be faster on a wet or damp surface if there is no standing water on the surface. If nothing else it WILL teach you car control. So bring on the rain, it'll give a chance to break out the Hoosier wets again. Last time I got to use them was at the 2005 Nationals in Topeka where it looked worse than what we drove in at Lovelock. Have you ever seen rain come down, and go up and then back down again? That's some weird stuff there....I know why Toto left Kansas.

I haven't seen anything about rain, but I'm going to come extra prepared anyway. The wind at the first event stank, so I'm going to bring clothing for any kind of weather. If it rains I'll be wearing a Hefty bag.

I'm soooo bummmed right now (not that anyone cares, but I'll share anyway). After discovering a "little incident" that happened to the car Wednesday, I won't be making either event this weekend now! It's also not looking good for me to make the Fernley event on the 26th! I guess I'll just have to plan for the North/South event next month and make sure to be there!

Okay, looks like I'm solo-ing "Solo" this weekend. So anyone who can teach me something and wants to drive the Green Monster is welcome to it -- I run in the AM but will stay for the afternoon also and co-drivers or drivers who just want to jump in are welcome.
Damn Gina, wish I had a chance of fitting in that buger.
out of town. how did it go today?
I was only there in the afternoon. It wasn't all that cold, but the wind was a real b!tch. The cones were blowing over A LOT and in the 3rd run group, 9 ASP hit some cones that weren't put back correctly. By the time Dean spotted it, a bunch of people had gone with a cone missing so that group got reruns, in order to keep people from protesting. Considering the 6 runs we were already getting, the afternoon really dragged.

It was pretty much the most miserable day I ever remeber at Stead. The runs were great, but the wind was oppressive.

The wind did suck. Every time I would put a cone back, it would fall over again just as I started walking away. Arghhh

Hey Gina,
If the price difference between the RE01R's and 615's won't break you, I'de strongly consider going for the RE01Rs. Last year i ran with 255/40/17s (615) this year i'm on 245/40/17 (1cm narrower) and they feel like they have a lil more grip. For my car & sizes the difference was i think $100

You'll change your tune after you get out to RFR on them. They will really shine on the track. You'll be looking for a set of autocross wheels to go with your new Dunlops or Falkens after that. :)

At least in my size(255/40-17), a quick look has them at:
Falken Azenis RT-615s at $121(VulcanTire)
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs at 148.50(TireRack after Rebate)
Bridgstone Potenza RE-O1Rs at $220(TireRack)
Dunlops are Definitely getting close to the 615s. I'd try a set. Just make sure you get the Star spec Dunlops not the regular Z1s. Birdgestone is going to have to drop prices if they want to stay in the game.
