A friend at work asked if I could get an oppinion on a good C4 replacement Shock.
He is currently looking at the Edelbrock from Summit.
He is not interested in Racing. Similar to stock ride is sufficient.
Thanks for your time.

My understanding is that the Edelbrock shocks actually perform pretty decently, without increasing ride harshness too much. They have some type of "variable valving" that allows them to perform fairly comfortably under normal conditions, and stiffen a bit when "pushed". I've heard good things from people who've used them.

Edelbrock shocks are decent. Probably a bit of overkill for a street driven C4.
By price, the shocks that the C4 guys are happy with:
KYB - about $45e
Bilstein - $80, origional equip. some guys even race with these.
Edelbrock -115 & up
QA1- $130
Koni - $170
There's not many C4s running Edelbrocks, doesn't say they're not good, just most guys will run Bilsteins on the street.
If I was going to spend the money on the delbrocks, I think I'd step up to the QA1s.
Probably not for your buddy but there's a new coilover kit with QA1's out now developed by a Corvette racer, $1,699.
If your buddy has any questions, let me know I do a little work on C4s at times, and drive one.
Also, there's a boatload of C4 knowledgeable people at: www.corvetteguru.com (http://www.corvetteguru.com)

I thought about this a little more.
What year is the car and is it base suspension or Z51 Heavy Duty?
Is he trying to cure anything specific, hopefully not harsh ride, shocks won't fix that.
If he's not into performance driving and just likes to cruise up to the lake, etc., I'd put on the KYBs, run them 3 years if it's a daly driver, and then get a new set. He'd still have less money on it than buying a hi dollar shock that he won't notice any benefits from.

'96 Base Model It doesn't have the fancy leveling shocks or anything. I'm pretty sure the shocks are high mileage(possibly original) and need replacement. This is a "weekend" car. I don't see why the KYB's won't work for him and save him a few dollars.
Thanks for the input guys.
He'll be really happy when I give him the feedback.
