View Full Version : Winter driving at Stead?

I wonder if Skip would let us use Stead after a big snow? Leave our area unplowed with a 50-75' plowed perimeter so we could do some winter driving and still stop before obstacles/planes?

It would have to be short notice on a Sat. after a snow. Hmmm

What would you pay to do car control exercises and/or even a rallycross course on snow/ice?

Could we even insure such an event on short notice though SCCA? Who do we ask at National? Who is in charge of our Rallycross program? :)

Dean,

Pego Mack is the contact for Rally. (she is also the contact for Street Survival).

Might be interesting but the logistics of holding an event in anticipation of having snow coverage might be a little difficult but may be a worthy attempt.

hmm... How much serious interest do we have for this?

I know a land owner out in Wadsworth who would let me put on a motor sports event on their land. We could try renting a water truck and dumping all the water on a cold night before a cold weekend and try for an ICE autoX .

I think the Rallyx group i'm with has been renting a water truck + back hoe from united rentals for $500 an event (Super deal they are our official sponsor)

But then that's $500 + insurance for the event. ? $800 10 interested peeps at 80?
20 interested peeps @ 40 ?

I'de be willing to Front some money ($400 ish) and make arrangements with Tim (land owner) and a watering place if this seems feasable ... ??

I don't think anybody likes the idea of autocrossing in the mud...

I really think we would need a paved surface or one with a known thickness of ice that would stay that way for thy day.

Breaking through the ice to dirt or melted sections of mud could be far more dangerous to cars and people. My dad has 16 acres in Gardnerville I thought about as well.
