Hi all,
Mark Sipe and I are in Lincoln Nebraska to participate in the '09 Solo Nationals. I thought some of you might be interested in hearing about how this year's activities are going/went.

The site is HUGE, and the concrete surface is superb. There is space for 2 large courses, 900 50' long paddock spaces, a 'vendor row', a large registration and administration tent, and a 40+ second test and tune course that has its own grid/parking area. (I'll try to take some pictures along the way, and post them later.)

We ran the ProSolo finale event this past weekend. The car performed very well on my Saturday morning runs, however the transmission broke on Mark's Saturday afternoon runs. Lucky for us that Mark had a spare transmission, and the foresight to bring it on this trip. His plan was to swap out the transmission on Saturday night, to give us a fighting chance on final Sunday morning runs.

It appeared that I would have to take DNS's for my Saturday afternoon runs, but then, because the event ran so long and sunset was on the horizon, and because my class of 22 drivers was the last to run, and because they did not want to split running my group, I got the lucky dog pass. The entire L1 class was postponed to Sunday morning.

Keith and Kristi Brown from NW Region let Mark use the lift in their hauler, Tom Kubo and Scott Frasier helped Mark drop out the broken transmission and lift the replacement into place, and he buttoned up the swap-out in 3 hours, finishing at midnight. We now had a car to run!

The event started an hour earlier on Sunday, and unfortunately with 3 hours of sleep, plus Mark's labors on the swap out, we started Sunday morning with an energy deficit. I felt this reflected on our results on Sunday, but I was certainly thankful that the car was ready to go again. We were not able to finish the ProSolo in the trophies, but we do now have the opportunity to continue to dial-in the car before our Thursday/Friday run groups.

I'll try to post more along the way if time permits.

Wow! Tranny swap in 3 hours onsite is very impressive. Thanks for posting this. Can't wait to hear more.

Wow, Debbie great job today! http://www.scca.org/popup/raceresult.aspx?event=13555&file=852

Barring something odd happening, Debbie won on the East course! If she gets a fast, clean run down tomorrow she has an excellent chance of bringing home another trophy. That's way better than the outstanding effort just to get on the course, haha.
