I'm thinking about running both PDX and CT on July 12. I look up AMB webpage there are 2 versions of AMB X260. Which one SCCA use (new/old)? Do SCCA carry the bracket? If not where can I get a bracket for transponder? I also need instruction how and where should I mount it.

Nat, I think what you're refering to on the 2 versions is one is rechargable and one is hardwired. For our CT/TT you can rent one at the event. The rental is $25.
We usually have the holders available for the rechargable.
They need to be mounted so that the transponder has a clear path to the ground so that the timing loop can pick up the signal. Most guys in CT use zip ties to mount them an return the holder at days end.
See me in tech in the morning, I'll give you a hand. Mounting the holder only takes a few minutes.
You could buy a holder and permanently mount it if you wish.

The hardwired transponder is usually just used on racecars that aren't driven on the street. It is powered by the car's battery and comes on when you start the engine.

Nat,

I didn't notice this post before the Jul 12 event but if you didn't pick up a holder please do. Renp Region gives them to people that rent transponders. The holder can then be permanently mounted and the transponder installed or removed with just one pin. I would rather give the holder than have someone loose one and have to pay the $350.

Maybe next year when I ready for the CT. This year I will play in the PDX. If you have an extra one maybe I can pick up on the next PDX.
