Hello All:
In one of my favorite movies, "A League of Their Own", Tom Hanks, tipsy head coach for a WWII era female ball club opined, "There's no crying in baseball !!". While the same generally holds true for autocross, there were many misty eyes at Stead Airport Saturday morning when organizers announced that Fall's application of "chip seal" resulted in an unstable surface and forced cancellation of the seasons opening event. Although an anticpated brawl did not ensue, the many expectant participants went home to face an uncertain number of weeks of the continuing "winter of our discontent".
All was not lost for me however, and I took the opportunity to take a long way home to Carson City, via Geiger Grade and the truck route down from Virginia City. The new Dunlop Direzza Z1 Starspec's (thanks for the tip, Pat Housel) performed as advertised on the Alfa :). Along with all other autocrossers, I'm looking forward to news of the rescheduled event.
The Peanut at Reno Fernley works for me!
Cheers,
Steve Waclo
