3.2.2. Street Unlimited Eligibility
SU cars must be in a street legal configuration and registerable. The engine may
have any modifications that do not make it illegal for the street. Emission control
equipment may be deactivated or removed.

If you remove the emission control equipment, the car is no longer streetable or registerable....

Only 2 NV counties have smog checks. This equalizes all by specifically permitting emission control modification even if it would make the vehicle unregisterable.

This is an old debate that started in SP long ago. As Federal regulations make it illegal to touch any emissions control component that is under warranty, techincally virtually every car on grid is not "street legal." The intent of SU is not to provide another class for street driven cars- it is a catch-all that allows sorta-kinda streetable cars to compete without moving all the way to Modified or Prepared. It's essentially "run what you brung" with only a few minor restrictions.

We do still require that an SU car has at least 1 functional cat right? that's a federal emissions law. Even in stateline, NV where i live, no smog. its still technically illegal to register a car with out a cat. And its just really bad on the enviornment for really no power gains. you can look at Tuning results for cody before and after a cat install and see on a 300 HP / TQ motor (crank) it was like 1 hp ? maybe 2 hp

So are we using this as its okay to go from stock setup to at least 1 funtional cat?

hehehe Since you were knocking my A-stock class win last year, due to using a calculator I think we should put something on the line for this year. If you beat me (very very likely, I won't be on the 'cheater' tires this year) I'll buy you a beer if you win, and vice versa if i can win somehow. :) You game?

Oh how a set of hoosiers can inspire a lil confidence. although they were used a full season , given away, then resold to me. But there's still tread pattern, if you can really call it that on a slick. hehe

The rule allows for the removal/modification of all emission items. No cats required.

A or R Hoosiers? Year old multi-heat cycled As or Rs of any age will likely not be that great.

Yeah that's my fear is that they are going to stink.

Dean, I have Both Actually . got 4 A6's for $40 , and Well i still need to find a 4th Hoosier R in a 225/45/17 , Kris sold me his set of 3 for like $50 or something. if i end up having to buy a new one guess it will be like 375 , for 4 Rs. not nearly as good as my A6 pricing But i would imagine the worn out Rs will be worse then the worn out As. hehehe

Anyone have a 225/45/17 hoosier R tire they want to sell ? (useable tread on it) ??:)

My lil pony (rally car) is eating up almost my entire racing budget (well and i love it) so its AutoXing on $40 tires, or don't Autox. I had to by All seasons after trying to stretch my bald bald winter tires, + a bad snow storm + sliding off the road and into a tree... (yay insurance) I could have bought snows at that time, but was planning on using the R's i got from kris + a used or new tire.
