Pat, thanks for posting these. Remember that PAX assigns a handicap to all classes using A Modified as the standard (1.000). The higher the number, the faster you have to go to match A Mod on PAX-handicapped time. So, say you're in F Stock -- your 2009 PAX handicap will be 0.833, up from 0.821 in 2008 -- so, on a one-minute course, you have to go 0.72 seconds faster next year, just to tread water in PAX against A Mod. The calculation is (0.833 - 0.821) x 60 = 0.72. (I think the justification for the FS increase has to do with the new Shelby Mustangs that are running away with the class at the national level.)

To bring things closer to home, since we have no A Mods running in Reno Region, try looking at it this way. A good bet to take top PAX at our events is a B Street Prepared Corvette. For 2009, BSP's PAX number changes from 0.858 to 0.859, an "increase" of only 0.06 seconds on a 60-second course. Bottom line is that if the BSP Vette runs in 2009 exactly as it did in 2008, then an F Stock car must somehow find an additional 0.66 seconds of raw-time speed, just to stay the same in PAX. You can do the same kind of calculation for any class or combination of classes. Again taking an example from the upper parts of our '08 PAX standings, F125 will have to find an additional 0.48 seconds of speed just to tread water.

Note that the only two classes to get a more favorable PAX number compared to 2008 are F Street Prepared and G Prepared.

Play with the numbers and see what you think. Meanwhile, I'll still be refining my High Altitude Performance (HAP) indexing system...

the two cars i have are AS, and FSP , FSP got the most help, not that my Rally Production Class Impreza is any threat at autox (Except for finishing DFL and hitting cones). and AS improved versus most of the top 10 2008 finishers.

It will be really interesting to see how much of a jump Kevin can make in his FSP Wagon :)

If everything else stays the same seems like SM2, SS, ESP, XP, 125 Kart will all have a harder time Paxing over BSP this year. Hopefully those drivers will find a few extra mods, and a few less tenths out there on course this year. :D

Hopefully Dave stays and/or Perry comes back into AS so i don't think i'm getter better Overall when its just Pax helping me out
