AAS held their autox events this past weekend at a new site in Alameda, CA. This place is fantastic and will potentially rival the old Castle/Atwater site in size, quality, and weather. It's an old asphalt runway area on the bay adjacent to Oakland. Huge area in width and length, very high grip, but easy on tires. The weather this past weekend is typical of what you can expect; low 70s temp, slight breeze, foggy mornings and sunny afternoons, and a beautiful view of the bay and ship loading docks. It's located several miles off the interstate.

Not a done deal yet. Supposedly negotiations are underway for both AAS and SF Region solo programs to run there full time. If his happens it will also likely be the new home for west coast National Tour and Pro Solo events.

A few years back I was at a BMW Ride and Drive/test drive thing, and it would be a great site. Surprised nobody figured it out before this, but I'm glad it's happening.

]Had a great time there this weekend... Hope they get it long term.
This photo/art says it all regarding the site! SF and the Bay bridge make a great backdrop for autocrossing!
