Just checking results for the Tour. Mark is holding his own nicely against some of the best in the B Stock class. Debbie is within striking distance of Jennifer Isley. Hopefully Rachel will find that speed that we all saw in her at the end of last year. I recall my first tour and I was terrified. I figured out later that day that I was holding my breath around a long, fast Atwater tour course because I was so nervous.
There is another Reno region member there as well. Al Patterson is running ASP and is now a Reno member. I'm hoping he will find some time tomorrow. The car has been fast locally and he keeps getting faster as well.
Let's all wish them a speedy, cone free sunday:)

I'm thinking I need to go buy a Miata. C stock out ran every stock class save SS. And the class leaders of BS, AS and SS are all past national champs. Chris Cox is 2nd in SS and he's getting beat by CS too.
CSP is leading ASP, BSP, SM and SM2. Forget worrying about AWD EVO's, its the CSP miata's we all better be fearing. No one's gonna touch CSP in PAX....
I hope someone comes back and tells me that it was a "miata" course...:p

So the Miatas leapfrogged the Solstice/Skys this season?

Kevin, what I'm saying is that the CS miata in SD this weekend smoked
A stock and B stock, never mind the C stock version of the Solstice/Sky. And the winning CSP miata smoked ASP and BSP. Leap frogged is an understatement...
Last weekend in Sac, the CS miata of Chris Kanaan outran A stock as well.
As an interesting side note, Kevin Dietz won CS at the 2006 Nationals in a Solstice, that car is currently for sale now on sccaforums.com. Makes ya wonder what he knew that others don't.....

Now you know why I sold me '96 Miata. Maybe I'll wish I still had it when the NBs get bumped back down to E Stock.
It was our first outing in Mark's restored-to-BS RX-8, so while we were getting our race footing under us, I felt we did ok considering. I was really proud of Rachel in her first national tour event, she went out with much trepidation, but plenty of speed for a rookie, (and plenty of cones for course workers to remember her by :o).
Our own John Townley was also running in EM with his beautiful white/orange spitfire (rotafire), and while he was running against the national champ/car, I was watching him power slide through a corner on his last run, and he was looking fast.
Many there commented that it was definately a miata course. But then you are also seeing results of a phenomenal driver in CS, as well as several extraordinary CSP drivers. Pair one of these drivers with a well-setup car on a course with few braking zones, and their handling shows in the times. They make ME want to get a miata! But I thought the course was open enough and fast enough, but not too fast (no rev limiter in 2nd, but also no need to downshift anywhere either). Fun times, nice site, nice people.

this site is HUGE with many large elevation changes throughout and a corresponding fast, flowing course offering significant off-camber sweepers/corners, etc., it was extremely challenging :)
the Stead site introverts :p have no idea, you can't compare these results with anything here in the Reno Region
not to mention there were significant weather variations throughout the both days ;)
