My name is Brendan Moore and I am new and full of questions. First off a little bit about myself. I am 18 years old. I own an 89 240sx and I love it very much. I am an avid car enthusiast and i love Nissans. I went to the runs at Stead airport Friday and i was in heaven. I am moving to reno soon and i would love to be involved with the Reno SCCA.
Now for questions. On browsing a few posts i understand the stock class regulations for the most part. Cat-back. Stock air box? Does this mean no after market piping from the intake manifold and or new filter placement? Shocks but not springs. And front sway bars are ok. Does that mean a rear sway bar would out you in a class up?
And is it possible to be in the "pit" area to talk to drivers and or mechanics if your not running that day?
Thanks,
Brendan

you can change the element in the stock airbox,no aftermarket intake piping. for the rear bar, has to be stock bar for car or if no bar from factory then you cant add it...
Yes you can ck out the cars and talk to all.....we dont bite................hard:p

Brendan;
Welcome to the fun! As a newbie you'll probably want to try our Novice class: you run what you brung and there's no classing. The Novice class is set up to introduce people to Solo, and give them a chance to get some experience without the pressure of competing in a points class against veteran drivers. It's a great way to learn about the sport, get some seat time (you can run both morning and afternoons as a Novice for an extra $10) and figure out which way you want to go with your car.
Your equipment questions are best answered by reading the Solo Rule Book, you can read or download a copy off the SCCA web site (SCCA.org). Look in the Solo section and do a search for Solo Rules. For stock classes you're correct about the piping and new filter placement, only thing you can do to your intake for stock is swap the OEM air filter for the same size and type after market, like a K&N.
Can't mess with your springs, but shocks are open as long the attachment points, and spring seats, are the same as OEM. That's all spelled out in the rule book. Front sway bars are okay, but you can't touch the rear bar if you want to stay in stock.
Visitors can be in the pits as long as they have signed the waiver form and have a wrist band.
Hope to see you at the next event, which, by the way, will be held out at Reno-Fernely Raceway on a portion of the track. That should be a lot of fun.

Ok, sweet. Thanks for the welcome. I will be at the next event. Which is on the 9th right? I might even try some seat time. Dunno yet though. Thanks again Don and Pat. Hope to see you there.
