All Reno Region Solo II events are held under the SCCA Solo II Rules. These supplemental regulations govern Reno Regional Events only. Changes to these rules may be made for special events as needed. Advance changes must be approved by a majority vote of the Board of Directors. Solo II Rules are amended as follows:

3.3.3 Safety Inspections

All provisions of Solo2 Rules Safety Inspection 3.3.3 shall apply except as modified herein. Annual Safety Inspection will be offered for vehicles of competitors that have competed in at least one full season of Solo2 events. The Chief of Tech, Safety Steward or Solo2 Director may exclude any vehicle from the Annual Safety Inspection program. Upon successful completion of the annual safety inspection a Reno Region Solo2 Annual Tech sticker shall be affixed to any part of the upper left side of the vehicle, including, but not limited to, a roll bar, the upper left corner of the windshield. An annual sticker shall also be affixed to the left side of the driver’s helmet. The competitors Solo Rules book will be stamped and initialed to indicate successful completion of Annual Tech Inspection.

Rule 3.5 Sound Limits The following is added to the rules: The maximum sound level shall be 95dB at 75 feet as measured by a decibel meter using an averaging setting. Any vehicle measuring over 95dB but under 100dB shall be warned and not allowed to compete in later events unless corrections are made. Any car measuring 100dB or over will be immediately banned.

Rule 3.7 (Vehicle ID) The following is added to the rules: Alternate car numbers and identifications may be provided at registration. Members may apply to the Chief of Registration for permanent numbers. Any driver competing in their third Reno Region SCCA Solo2 event must display numbers complying with the SCCA standards. Shoe polish is not an allowed alternative. Temporary numbers must be on the side of the vehicle of a size compliant with SCCA standards.

Rule 4.2 Event Entry The normal Reno Region hosted event single day entry fee shall be $20 for full members and $30 for non-members or persons holding a temporary SCCA membership. $10 of each non-member entry fee of a novice’s first two event days ($20 maximum) may be applied to SCCA membership. Entry fees for special events may vary at the discretion of the event chairperson with approval of the Solo2

Director. Special events are described as events with banquets and special awards; North/South Challenge and Slots/Spuds Challenge. A Run No Points option (RNP) may be available for drivers after completing the official timed run group. RNP drivers will be placed in the run/work group of the Event Chair’s choosing to balance the work groups. The RNP fee, for competitors who wish to drive a second time will be $10 for full members and $20 for non or temporary members. Reno SCCA officials may cap RNP entrants if necessary in order to complete each event within an acceptable timeframe.

Free entry to events

For out of area events, the driver of the timing bus to and from the event will be given free entry to the event. The event chairperson and one co-chairperson will be given free entry to the event they organize.

Rule 4.4B Car/Driver Limits The SCCA Solo II rules are appended as follows: At the discretion of the Event Chairperson, vehicles with more than two drivers may be allowed to compete, but all drivers over two must run in different run groups.

Rule 4.9 Conflict of Interest Use of bicycles are allowed on course during “walking” of the course for regional events only. Passengers will be allowed at all times at Reno Region events.

Rule 6.8A Order Of Running The following is added to the rules: Drivers of two driver cars may take no more than two consecutive runs. The grid master shall sequence two driver cars to the starter to ensure that both the one driver and the two driver cars finish their runs at the approximate same time. When called to the starting line, any driver not ready within 5 minutes may forfeit that run. The grid master will inform timing that the driver has received a mechanical DNF. Cars may go to the paddock and return to the grid but may lose a run or runs if they have fallen behind their run group.

Rule 6.8D Order Rule 4.4B Car/Driver Limits The SCCA Solo II rules are appended as follows: At the discretion of the Event Chairperson, vehicles with more than two drivers may be allowed to compete, but all drivers over two must run in different run groups.

Of Running is amended as follows: Cars run by groups of classes, for example: A Stock, B Stock, C Stock in one group. The group will take all their runs before the next group runs.

Rule 6.8E Order Of Running is amended as follows: The ladies class may be run in the same run groups as their appropriate open classes.

Rule 7.9.1 Course Markers (Pylons) is amended as follows: Substitute for the first sentence: A line must circumscribe the pylon. Delete “inner line or inner” in the third sentence, it shall read: The line shall be used to describe the entire edge of the pylon base as accurately as possible and will be the penalty limit.

Rule 7.10 Official Results will be published in the next regular newsletter and mailed or e-mailed to all competitors.

Rule 8.2 Lodging A Protest Protests must be filed, verbally to the event chairperson or Solo2 Director within one hour of completion of the run group.

Rule 8.2.1 Protest Fee A $25 fee must accompany Protests. If the protest Committee upholds the protest, the $25 fee will be returned.

Rule 8.4 Protest Committee The Event Chairperson and/or Solo 2 Director will select a protest committee, composed of three SCCA members, if needed. A decision will be made at the event.

Rule 11.Awards and Mementos SCCA members of record by July 31st of each calendar year, who compete in 51% or more of the Reno Region’s Solo2 events in their respective class, will be eligible for annual class championship awards. Points towards the yearly class championships will be awarded for each event as follows for contested classes: First Place - 21, Second Place -16, Third Place - 14, Fourth Place - 12, Fifth Place through fifteenth place - 11 to 1 respectfully. To be a contested class, there must be a minimum of two drivers in that class. Non-member drivers will count toward earning points. An entrant of a non-contested class will receive 11 points for finishing. If the number of points events totals 20 or greater, drivers will receive one drop for every three events. Otherwise points will be totaled based on four drops or on a ratio of one drop for every four Solo2 events whichever is greater. For class championship points calculations, each driver’s best finishes will be used. The number of year-end class championship awards will be based upon the total number of qualified entrants at the end of the year as follows:

The Board of Directors will determine a Solo II Rookie of the Year for both Open and Women’s classes. This award

is open to drivers new to the sport of Autocross who have completed fewer than 51% of the events in any prior season in any region. Event participation and competitiveness will be used in the evaluation. There will be a Novice Award given to Novice drivers (male and female) who have the highest overall PAX finish of all the novices. A Novice will be defined as a Reno SCCA member new to the sport of Solo2 who has completed fewer than 51% of the events in any prior season in any region or club.

· All classes will be eligible.

· One award will be given to each gender in the form of a season-end trophy or plaque.

PAX Driver’s Championship PAX points will be calculated for Open and Ladies’ classes throughout the season as follows: First Place - 21, Second Place through twentieth place - 19 to 1 respectfully, 21^st place through last place – 1 point. PAX will be calculated for each event for each driver regardless of whether or not his or her class is contested. Drops will be calculated as they are for the Class Awards. PAX factors used to equalize the competition will be the national PAX factors for each car class, plus PAX factors calculated for our Regional classes (e.g., SU and Street Tire). The number of PAX awards will be determined using the same schedule as for class awards (with a maximum of four awards). Ladies competing for the ladies’ PAX championship must run in a ladies-designated class to be eligible.

Perfect Attendance Award will be given to each driver who attends every points event of the season.

Roger Hettrick Award will be given to the member who has shown the most outstanding, selfless service to the Club.

Most Improved Driver Award will be given to the Open and Ladies’ class drivers who have shown the most improvement from the prior season.

Regional Car Classifications

Street Tire Class

Drivers whose cars have tires of 140 tread wear rating or higher may choose to run in this class. Their times will be computed based upon the PAX factors for the SCCA class

in which their car normally would be eligible to run, with an adjustment for street tires of roughly 2.4 seconds for every 60 seconds of time. They will compete against all other Street Tire class drivers for annual class points. Trophies will be awarded on the same basis as for other classes. The

drivers will not be eligible for points in the normal SCCA classes. All

street tire participants will run as one run group. All street tire class cars will display an “T’ preceding their normal SCCA classes such as “TCSP”. A separate street tire class will also be established for ladies as with all other classes.

All street legal classes will be eligible for Street Tire (including Stock, Street Prepared, STS/STX, SM/SM2, and SU). Prepared and Modified classes (including karts) will NOT be eligible for the Street Tire class.

Street Unlimited Class (formerly OSP) The car must be in a street legal configuration and registerable. The car must pass the normal safety inspection for stock or street prepared cars. The engine may have any modifications that do not make it illegal for the street. Emission control equipment may be deactivated or removed. The engine may be of a different manufacture than the chassis. Suspension, chassis bracing and weight reduction are unrestricted as long as street ability is maintained. The car may be trailered to an event but must, in good faith, be capable of being driven on the street. The prevailing street prepared rules for tires will be used for the SU class, or an SU car may run in the indexed street tire class using the prevailing street tire tread wear specifications. A PAX/RTP factor will be assigned to the class using the logic that the car has the capability of being faster than ASP but due to equipment requirements to maintain street legality, it may not be as fast as cars prepared to the fullest extent in the prepared or modified classes. Just as the national PAX/RTP for all car classes are adjusted each year based upon actual results, so may the SU’s PAX/RTP be adjusted.

Novice Classification

Novice class is offered to Novice drivers new to Solo2 (also called autocross) who have not competed in more than ½ the events in a season in any region or club. Vehicles are not classified and must display a “N” in place of class designation on both sides. Vehicles must pass normal Solo2 Safety Inspection. Novice drivers sign up on a sign-up form separate from Classed drivers and are required to work during one run group. A new “worker” position, Novice Chief, will be responsible to mentor and coach novice drivers. Run group

for the Novice class will be determined prior to the morning and afternoon mandatory Drivers Meetings. Novice class runs will be timed and results published however, Novice Class drivers will not be eligible for individual event class trophies or awards unless specifically stated for that event. Novice Class drivers will be permitted to move to a national or Reno region class at any time during the season and may move results from up to four events to the appropriate class. Any resulting changes in class or PAX standings or points will be permitted and are not protest able. Novice drivers that change to a Class will no longer be eligible for the Novice Class participation.

Run No Points Class

RNP class is offered to drivers who are not interested in competing for event or season results. This may include, but is not limited to drivers from other regions, drivers running a second time after completing their competitive runs, a non-classifiable car and drivers who wish to drive/work at a specific time of day. RNP drivers will sign up on a separate sign up form and are required to work one run group. RNP Vehicles must pass the normal Safety Inspection. Normal class designation must be removed or otherwise altered so as not to be confused with a normal class. Alterations may include, a tape line through the class letters, the letters turned upside down, a letter “R” placed before the normal class designation; or if removed, or not classed, the letters RNP must be placed on both sides of the vehicle. RNP drivers will be notified prior to the morning and afternoon Mandatory Driver’s Meeting which run/work group they will be placed in.
