October 4, 2006

Attendees:  Don Smith, Charles Marshall, Jim Kunze, Lucas Kunze, Ed Richely,  Nick Hansen, Matt Roy, Mike Khamis, Pat Riley, Tyson Kueper, Gino Pogal, John Riggs, Jr., Carol & Dave Deborde,  and Patty Evans

Minutes of September Meeting: Hearing no objections or corrections to the minutes, Jim Kunze moved and Luc Kunze seconded a motion and minutes approved unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report:  Doug Driver was not in attendance but had forwarded an update report to Patty which she passed out for review.  After discussion, Charles Marshall moved, Ed R seconded and approved unanimously.

Solo Update/Lovelock recap:  Dave Deborde reported that the event was a lot of fun and a good course even though there is a limited amount of space to set up a course.  A get together at the local Pizza Factory on Saturday evening was attended by most participants.  Patty thanked Jim Uchytil and Randy Jones for a fun event.

Stead October 7-8 Event:  Tyson Kueper, Pat Riley and Dave Deborde   met with the Reno Stead Airport  Manger to review drive repaving and determine access and availability of paddock space.  It was determined that an alternate gate will be utilized as the main entrance will be closed.  Also an alternate entrance to the ramp/solo course is being constructed.  It is not expected that the repaving will have a major impact on the event.   Tyson & Pat indicated they could use help Friday setting up around 11:00am.  Dave took the bus to John Riggs, Jr. home.  The radios are in the bus including the 4 new radios recently purchased with the two new charges and two ear receivers.

Time Trials Update:  NorPac Division Trials Championship recap:  Dave apologized that he and Carol were unable to get to Reno-Fernley on Friday early to register people.  Friday the weather was cold & windy but woke up Saturday to sun and a gentle breeze.  There were a couple of cars that went off track but no serious damage or injuries.  The drivers all had five 20minute sessions each day.  There were 42 different participants during the weekend.  Several donations were made and either silent auctioned or raffled during the weekend, receiving $600.00.  NorPac Division will reimburse $1,000.00 toward the Saturday Social/Dinner and the awards.  Carol has submitted an invoice to NorPac Division.  The San Francisco Region had a number of people come over to help staff the event.  We truly appreciated their help.  It was a great weekend and everyone attending had fun.

Dave asked for any suggestions from our members on how to get non active members to participate as workers.

Dave reported that the Competition Committee and participating drivers had a unstructured meeting on Monday 10/2.  Probably be doing only one day events providing the Reno-Fernley Raceway will be willing to rent on that basis.  Some suggestions are doing more Performance Driving in conjunction with Time Trials events.  There is a growing number of participants that have gotten their Novice Permits and several ready to get theirs next year.

Jim Gandy’s idea was brought up again for a Solo event in conjunction with a Time Trials event.  Jim will work toward that next year.

End of Year Elections – Nominating Committee Report:  Jim Kunze, Chairman reported that he has several names for the open positions and should have a final slate soon.  We still need help with Registration Chief, Tech Chief and Timing Chief for Time Trials.  Patty indicated she would be willing to be Secretary if we get a new RE.

Awards Banquet – November 4:  The banquet will be held at Tamarack Junction for $30.00 per person, with the club will pick up the tab over the $30.00.  Dick & Annie Lewis are the co-chairpersons and they would like your reservation ASAP.  There is a copy of the reservation on the website.  Also, they are looking for any donations for door prizes.

Loren Enstad, Gina Pogal, Patty Evans and Carol Deborde are the Awards committee.  They plan to have a meeting as soon as the last event is final & the winners are known.

New Business

The SCCA Board of Directors has approved a proposal for Solo High Speed.  Dave suggested the Solo group look into it for Lovelock and Hawthorne.

Patty received information from Charles Doyle, Sports Cars & All That Jazz asking if Reno Region SCCA would be interested in participating in 2007 for a fee.  Patty will call them and see what the description is they would like us to do..

Dave reminded the members that the 2007 NorPac Convention was coming up in January at the Atlantis January 5,6,&7, 2007.  Also, Reno will be hosting in 2008.

Meeting was adjourned unanimously at 7:45.  The Board of Directors meeting proceeded.

Respectfully submitted by,

Carol Deborde, Acting Secretary for Doug Driver
