Minutes of the Regular Meeting
of the Reno Region of the SCCA
July 5, 2006
Attendees: Patty Evans, Lucas Kunze, Doug Driver, John Riggs Jr., Mike Khamis, Scott Perry, Matt Roy , Carol DeBorde, Dave DeBorde, Jim Kunze, Kevin McDaniel, John Evans, Kyp Johnson, Deb Johnson, Don Smith, Sarah Kunze, Jim Gandy , Pat Riley, John Riggs III, Charles Marshall, Dean Benz
Patty Evans convened the meeting at 6:30 PM; John Riggs, Jr. moved, Kevin McDaniel seconded, and the minutes from the June 14, 2006 meeting were unanimously approved (note: minutes are dated June 12, 2006).
Treasurer’s Report
Doug Driver delivered the treasurer’s report. A copy is attached to these minutes. Doug noted that we have about $23,000 in cash and will be investing $10,000 in a twelve month CD. Dean Benz moved and John Riggs, III seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion passed unanimously.
Solo Report
John Riggs, Jr. discussed the most recent Solo event at Stead over the June 24th-25th weekend. He suggested that we make a habit out of reinforcing procedures and driving techniques with the novices at each event. All members agreed.
Dave DeBorde and Loren Enstad will co-chair the next event at Stead July 15th-16th. Dave previewed the course which will most likely contain one of his Chicago garages.
John Evans previewed the August 12th-13th event at Squaw Valley. The course will feature some elevation changes.
Time Trials Report
Dave DeBorde gave a brief update on the Time Trials program. Jim Gandy will be the operating steward for the upcoming Reno-Fernley Raceway event on July 22nd-23rd. Jim is welcoming entrants and volunteers.
Walk-On Items
John Riggs, Jr. suggested that a cone trailer for the bus would be a nice idea. Some members were in support, and some were not. No action was taken.
Dave DeBorde mentioned the need for workers for the Runoffs at Heartland Park in Topeka.
Patty Evans suggested that we consider raising money for a not-for-profit organization. All members agreed that it’s a good idea, but the actual method deserves additional discussion. A list of potential charities was made and Charles Marshall agreed to do some research and report back.
John Riggs, Jr. reminded the members that the annual Reno SCCA campout is this weekend (june7th-9th) at Frenchman’s.
The next general membership meeting is scheduled for August 2, 2006 at 6:30 PM at Austin’s Restaurant in Reno.
With no further business before the members, the meeting was adjourned at the early hour of 7:05 PM. Congratulations Patty!
