Minutes of the Meeting

of the Board of Directors of the

Reno Region of the SCCA

May 31, 2006

Attendees: Patty Evans, John Evans, Scott Perry, Don Smith, Doug Driver , Matt Roy, Dave DeBorde, Carol DeBorde

The meeting was convened at about 6:30 PM at the home of Patty and John Evans. A buffet of Chinese food kept the growling stomachs quiet during the meeting.

The directors reviewed the North-South Challenge at Hawthorne the weekend of May 27th-28th. There was an unfortunate accident, but a review of the procedures indicates that the club followed all of the proper procedures.

Dave DeBorde previewed the upcoming Club Trials event scheduled for the weekend of June 10th-11th at Lovelock’s Derby Field. Advance sign-ups are low, and the breakeven for the event is about 20 participants.

Jim Gandy will be the chair of the Time Trials event at Reno-Fernley Raceway the weekend of July 22nd-23rd. The cost will be $250 for the entire weekend with a $50 premium if the participant elects not to work. A single day will cost $175. We may be able to use other segments of the track, but that will require approval by the SCCA.

John Evans reported on discussions with Squaw Valley about holding the August event in the parking lot. The quoted price was $1,000 per day which will put the event at close to breakeven. John will continue to evaluate alternative sites and will attempt to negotiate a better deal.

The directors briefly discussed the possibility of holding an Solo event Reno-Fernley Raceway concurrently with a Time Trials event; but the facility is not quite prepared for hosting two events, and our club would have difficulty manning both.

Patty presented an idea from Gina Pogol for a flyer with a tear-off coupon to generate interest among potential new members. All agreed that the flyer is a good idea and will be shared with the members at the June 14th meeting to help distribute to likely participants.

Don Smith will have a review of an on-line registration site completed by the membership meeting and will report his findings at that time.

Respectfully submitted by Doug Driver, Secretary.
