Double National Workers
The Double National with the San Francisco Region is still recruiting workers. Anyone interested in volunteering please contact Dave DeBorde. Chuck Johnson indicated he would be attending and volunteering at the event.
Member incentive program
Details of the program were shared. For each new person presenting a schedule card at a Solo event the referring member will receive 5 incentive points and for each day working a TT/CT. Points have no monetary value and can be redeemed for entry fees at Reno Region events, Reno Region merchandise, Award Banquet entry fees or NorPac convention registration. Redemption value is $1 per point awarded. Registration and the membership chairperson will administer the program.
Solo Event Chairs
Jim and Lucas Kunze volunteered to take the May 13 and 14 event.
John Evans volunteered to do Hawthorne.
New Helmets
John Evans researched the helmet offer that many board members received via e-mail and determined that it was legitimate
Dean Benz moved that John be authorized to purchase 10 new helmets. Motion seconded by Scott Perry; the motion carried unanimously. Helmets will run approximately $35 each. It was determined that 4 mediums and 6 larges would be purchased.
A request will be made to members who have good used helmets to consider donating them to the club. Small helmets would be most appreciated.
Naming convention for result reporting
There was much discussion on how results should be reported for the 2006 season. Last year we reported first name and last initial. There was discussion regarding validation of participation for log books and the like. The discussion was tabled until the next meeting. The issue will be put into the newsletter with a request to have the members provide their input on the decision.
Walk-On Items
Matt Roy brought up the idea of stationing someone at the gate to ensure everyone has signed the waiver and has a wrist band as they enter the site. Much discussion ensued.
Pros were that we would know that waivers were signed and wrist bands issued.
Cons were the need to man the station from the very beginning of set up on Sat/Sun which would necessitate lining up these worker positions in advance. Long lines could form at the gate which could be detrimental for relationships with airplane owners trying to get in unless the waiver station was inside the gate with a lane for airplane owners to use to bypass the signature/banding process. Other options were to ensure a waiver worker was assigned for each run group and they would roam the site ensuring everyone present had signed and were banded. At one point the question was raised regarding our current process and was it broken that would require a change in practice. No decision was made. The board will take this suggestion under advisement at their next meeting.
Russ Carpenter inquired about the availability of regional stickers. We are out of the old ones and Scott Perry volunteered to work on a design for a new Reno Region sticker that would sport the new logo.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted by Patty Evans, RE/Secretary.
