Minutes of Prior Meeting
Patty Evans moved to approve the minutes from the September 7, 2005 meeting; Lucas Kunze seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report
The just-in-time Matt Benson presented the treasurer’s report. Jim Gandy inquired about the $250 Lovelock site fee and Dave clarified that it covers all associated site expenses for Pershing County. Jim Gandy moved to approve the treasurer’s report, and Russ Carpenter seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Nominations for 2006 Board positions
Dave gave a brief overview of the duties of the Area 9 director and discussed the two candidates for that position. He then reviewed the open positions for the Reno region which will be voted on at the December meeting:
Regional Executive Assistant Regional Executive
Treasurer Secretary
Solo2 Activities Director Race Activities Director
Director at Large
Awards Banquet
The awards banquet is on for November 19th at the Tamarack. Dick and Annie Lewis will organize the banquet, and Lucas Kunze is coordinating the trophies and awards. Prizes are needed.
Reno-Fernley Raceway Club Trials
The November 12th event at Reno-Fernley will be a non-timed Club Trials event. Dave expects four 20 minute sessions for the participants. The new technical section of the track is paved, but it is very unlikely that we will use it on November 12th. October 17th is the late entry date for the discounted price of $125. We also need (and will welcome) volunteers to help out.
Fall Tour
Jim Gandy previewed the Fall Tour scheduled for October 8th. It will start at the Tamarack Junction at 10:30 AM with a stop at Casino Fandago in Carson to pick up the late sleepers. No speed, no contests – just a nice drive in the country.
2006 Schedule
Dave asked the members to begin thinking about the 2006 schedule. What is the optimal number of events, should we host a divisional, shall we participate in a double national with SFR at Thunderhill, etc. It’s possible that we might host a road race at Reno-Fernley Raceway with SFR. The board will need member input to develop the schedule.
Greg Benson suggested that the Time Trials schedule begin earlier in the year, if possible. Jim Kunze suggested some one day Solo2 events to accommodate those who have to work one day on the weekends. Jim Gandy suggested a one day school in the middle of the summer. John Riggs, Jr. suggested more social activities after Saturday autocrosses; and Patty Evans suggested that we try to include more fun runs.
Walk-On Items
New (to Reno) member Chuck Johnson introduced himself and discussed his involvement in the Formula SCCA program. He currently runs in Formula Atlantic until Formula SCCA can get its own class. Chuck will be the local customer service representative for SCCA Enterprises.
Dave mentioned that he has entered the Western States Shootout at Thunderhill October 22nd-23rd. Dave will be running Saturday afternoon and would welcome some help in his crew.
Russ Carpenter expressed disappointment that we didn’t have a larger group going to the Nationals. He suggested setting up a “Go To Topeka” fund to defray the travel costs in 2006.
Dave reported that current (interim) SCCA President Gary Pitts is a member of the Reno region, and his son occasionally participates in our events.
Adjourn
The next general membership meeting is scheduled for November 2nd at 6:30 PM at Austin’s Restaurant in Reno.
With no further business before the members, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted by Doug Driver, Secretary.
