Minutes of the Meeting

of the Board of Directors of the

Reno Region of the SCCA

September 28, 2005

Attendees:       Dave DeBorde            Doug Driver                 Lucas Kunze

Greg Benson               Dean Benz                  Eric Gangloff

Lee Mitchell                 Matt Benson

The meeting, at the Deborde residence, convened promptly at 6:35 PM;  Dean,  Eric, Larry, Lee and Matt participated via teleconference.  Carol’s pot roast kept the live participants at the table.

Dave polled the directors on whether the last issue of Road & Tach should come before or after the October 15th-16th Club Trials event; all agreed that after would be best.

The directors then discussed what items (advertisements, announcements etc.) are appropriate for the group emails versus the website versus the newsletter.  All agreed that the board can treat these items on a case-by-case basis.

MyAutoEvents.com has three registrations for the last Solo2 and nine registrations each for the Lovelock and Reno-Fernley Club Trials events.  The Reno-Fernley Raceway technical section is currently being paved.  It won’t be completed in time for the November 12th event considering the necessary SCCA approvals.  Jeff Chambers will replace Lonny at Lovelock, and the fire department already has two people signed up to work the event.

The banquet charge will be $30, and the club will subsidize some of the cost.  Prizes are still needed.  Last year, before the final Solo2, we contacted members who needed an additional event to qualify for a trophy.  It seems as though there is only one member this year who falls into that category.  We need to get the results up to date on the website ASAP so members know where they stand.

Dave reviewed the switch from a PDE to a Club Trials event for the November 12th track day at Reno-Fernley.  This will allow the event to accommodate race cars and production cars running slicks.

The fall tour is scheduled for October 8th;  we should try to have flyers for distribution at the October 1st-2nd Solo2.

We need to begin discussing next year’s Solo2 schedule.  In particular, we should discuss whether we will host a divisional event again, and what is the optimal number of events for the year.

Lucas suggested that we schedule some time to work on the Infiniti pace car and then attempt to display it at various locations in Reno to build awareness of the club.  Lee Mitchell suggested that we also get to work on specifying our needs for a trailer and begin the search.

There is a possibility that Reno-Fernley could host a regional road race event in 2006;  it would most likely be a double regional with the San Francisco region.  The Cables expect to have all necessary SCCA “punchlist” items completed by the end of 2005.

The following agenda items were tentatively set for the October 5th general membership meeting.

·         Review of last month’s minutes

·         Treasurer’s report

·         Nominating committee’s need for candidates for 2006 offices

·         Banquet discussion

·         Report on the August 13th-14th Solo2 at Stead, the August 27th-28th Club Trials at Lovelock, and the Labor Day weekend events at Lovelock

·         Review of October 1st-2nd Stead Solo2

·         Discussion of October 8th Touring Rally, October 15th-16th Club Trials at Lovelock, and November 12th Club Trials at Reno-Fernley

·         2006 Solo2 schedule discussion

·         2006 NORPAC banquet participation (I assume you meant Convention)

The teleconference adjourned at a respectable hour -  because brownies a la mode were held until the conclusion of the meeting.

Respectfully submitted by Doug Driver, Secretary.
