Minutes of the Regular Meeting

of the Reno Region of the SCCA

September 7, 2005

With the clang of silverware on glass, Dave DeBorde called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.  No new faces were present, so we skipped the self introductions.

Minutes of Prior Meeting

John Riggs moved to approve the minutes from the August 10, 2005 meeting; Dean Benez seconded; the motion carried unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report 

Matt Benson presented the treasurer’s report.  Dean Benz moved to approve and Lucas Kunze seconded the motion.  The motion carried unanimously.

August 27^th-28^th Club Trials

Everything went well, the event was safe, and the participants had a good time – considering the amount of mechanical carnage.  The event probably made about $500.

Labor Day Solo2 and Club Trials

Attendance was light, but sufficient, with about 30 participants in the Saturday Solo2 and 21 participants in the Sunday Club Trials.  There were no major incidents.  The Club Trials event should be marginally profitable considering we paid a full sanction fee for a one day event.  Next year we may consider leaving Labor Day weekend off the schedule due to the sparse attendance.

Nominating Committee

It’s time to start thinking about filling leadership positions for next year.  Lucas Kunze, Jim Kunze, Doug Driver and Russ Carpenter have volunteered to serve on the nominating committee.  The election is in December.  Open positions are:

            Solo2 Activities Director          Race Activities Director

            Director at Large 

Awards Banquet

There are numerous conflicts for the November 19^th awards banquet, but the members agreed that virtually every date will have conflicts.  It was agreed to keep it on November 19^th, most likely at the Tamarack. 

Reno-Fernley Raceway PDE

A PDE is tentatively schedule for November 12^th at Reno-Fernley.  Dave estimates that 29 people at $125 will make for a break-even event.  The members discussed run group configurations and work versus no-work options at length.  Dave volunteered to serve as Event Chair, and all agreed to let him make the final decision on the structure of the event.

October 1^st-2^nd Solo2

Pat Housel and Randy Jones are co-chairing the final event of the season at Stead.  Dave may not attend.  If Dave’s not there to compete then Ham may bring his new Ford GT.

Fall Tour

The Fall Tour is scheduled for October 8^th.  It will start at the Tamarack Junction and follow back roads to Topaz Lake.  It should be a great event unless winter rears its ugly head.

Walk-On Items

Dave asked members to begin thinking about the 2006 schedule as the end of 2005 draws near.  A volunteer will be needed to head up this effort.

Adjourn

The next general membership meeting is scheduled for October 5^th at 6:30 PM at Austin’s Restaurant in Reno. 

With no further business before the members, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
