Minutes of the Meeting
of the Board of Directors of the
Reno Region of the SCCA
August 31, 2005
Attendees: Dave DeBorde Doug Driver Lucas Kunze
Greg Benson Dean Benz Eric Gangloff
The board members convened at the DeBorde residence at 6:30 PM; Dean and Eric participated via teleconference. The meeting commenced as the live participants began working on their Sloppy Joes.
Dave presented a request from NASA to advertise its 25 hour enduro at Thunderhill in the Reno newsletter. National discourages but does not prohibit it. San Francisco declined the request for its newsletter. The consensus of the board members was “no” because NASA events compete directly with SCCA events.
The 2004-2005 awards banquet has been tentatively scheduled for November 19th, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Tamarack Junction is the tentative venue. Mike Cesario has generously offered to help out with some wine. The cost of food alone, without service and corkage, will be about $30 per person. The club will have to subsidize the dinner, as it has in the past, to keep the price reasonable. Several people will be unable to attend because of the date, so there was discussion about rescheduling to November 12th. However, November 12th is the tentative PDE at Reno-Fernley.
The November 12th Reno-Fernley date could be moved to November 19th or November 5th. We’ll need close to 30 students and 10 instructors to make the event successful. We could manage with fewer participants if we hired corner workers as the worker changeover for the corners is very time consuming. The consensus of the board was that we should require all participants to work. A long discussion on scheduling ensued.
Lucas volunteered to work on the autocross trophies.
Sign-ups for the Labor Day weekend events are sparse, but it appears that attendance will be sufficient to host the events.
Dave suggested that a nominating committee be formed to work on next year’s positions. Lucas and Doug agreed to work on the committee. The following positions will need filling:
Regional Executive
Assistant Regional Executive
Secretary
Treasurer
Solo2 Activities Director
Race Activities Director
Director At Large
Dave indicated an interest in the Race Activities Director position.
The following agenda items were tentatively set for the September 7th general membership meeting.
· Nominating committee
· Report on the August 13th-14th Solo2 at Stead, the August 27th-28th Club Trials at Lovelock, and the Labor Day weekend events at Lovelock
· Discussion of October 1st-2nd Stead Solo2, October 8th Touring Rally, and October 15th-16th Club Trials at Lovelock
· Year-end banquet
· Reno-Fernley PDE – Track Trials
The teleconference adjourned at a respectable hour.
Respectfully submitted by Doug Driver, Secretary.
