David Deborde called the meeting to order at 6:400pm and we did a quick introduction of members present.

Old Business:

Minutes of prior meeting:  Lucas Kunze moved to approve minutes, Patty Evans 2nd. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:  Matt Benson presented the Treasurers Report and distributed copes of the July Cash Transaction Report.  Members asked how the Solo 2 Divisional did financially as well as the PDE at Reno-Fernley.

Cleared $1,343.00 on the Divisional and lost $1,287.00 on the PDE.  Jim Gandy moved we accept report and Greg Benson 2nd.  All approved & motion carried.

Reno-Fernley Raceway PDE/Track Trials:  Dave reported that although we lost money, he was encouraged that the losses were manageable and didn’t deplete the Time Trials/Club Racing funds.  Reno-Fernley Raceway assisted the region by providing additional track rental and service discounts.  This was most appreciated and will help enable us to hold future events. Dave’s impression overall of the event is that it was successful from a driver’s perspective and we gained valuable experience that will be helpful in the future.  Dave expressed his special thanks to Jim Gandy as Chief instructor; Dave Jansen for handling flagging at Start/Finish; Jeff Neilson for helping with Tech and Control; Scott Perry for handling Timing & Scoring; and to co-event chair, Doug Driver for all the organizational and promotional work he did before the event and for handling all the scheduling and operational duties during the event.  Corner worker/PDE Drivers did not complain or object to doing both activities, some actually indicated that it was a good experience that added to the event.  More PDE drivers would have made more run groups feasible and more “relaxed time” between on track and flagging sessions.  Luc Kunze and Mike Cesario suggest we schedule another event before members loose interest and the region looses momentum.

Dave suggested we start working now on next year’s schedule.  Dave would like to see us try to set-up a Road Race provided our neighbor region, San Francisco would make it an SFR Regional points event – if not in 2006, than in 2007.  He would like to have permission from the membership to talk with San Francisco about a Double Regional or something like that, to see if this could be a possibility.  It was unanimous that he should.

Dean Benz made a motion we explore an option of a date at Reno-Fernley for one day PDE in late fall – November/December.  Jim Gandy reminded everyone that an instructor was needed for each PDE Novice driver.

Matt Benson 2nd.  Motion carried.  Dave will contact Reno-Fernley ASAP to see if there are any weekend dates available.  We will need to do better advertising for this event. John Evans said that some people told him they didn’t come to the Divisional because of the heat so a fall event at Reno-Fernley may bring more people.

July 16 & 17 Solo 2 Event @ Reno Stead Airport:  Dave thanked Mike Mulhall & Jim Uchytil, event co-chairs, for a great Solo 2 weekend and the challenge of a different type of course on Saturday.  There was some confusion with first time novice drivers about having to work.  It was suggested this be discussed during the drivers meeting at future events and also to remind everyone about the 5 mile per hour speed limit in the grid and paddock areas.

Everyone will also be reminded not to jump the fence separating the paddock and “hot” area.

New Business:

Solo 2 Event August 13 & 14 @ Stead Airport:  Event Chairs are Lucas Kunze and Ray Walker assisted by Jim Kunze.  The course is designed and setup will commence on Friday around 10:00 am.  They would appreciate help.  John Evans will pick up the bus at John Riggs home.  Dave has the radios and will charge them.  Luc will get water and get some bags of flour.  There is enough oil dry on the bus.

Club Trials @ Derby Field, Lovelock, August 27 & 28:  There are 10 drivers registered at this time.  Dave would encourage everyone planning to attend that they sign up on myautoevent.com so that run groups can be planned in advance.  Based on the early registrations we expect  25-30 drivers will attend.  The Fire Department has been contacted to get volunteers to staff the ambulance and Dave will talk to Lonny at the airport to confirm the barrier is still in place.  As an aside, Lonny will be retiring the end of September and moving to Texas.  At this time we are not sure who will be replacing Lonny as Airport Manager.  Any questions, contact Dave or Greg.

Big Sky Solo Divisional – Helene, Mt. Aug. 20 & 21:  This is the first time Big Sky has attempted to have a Solo 2 Divisional.  They have about 35 entries to date and are looking for more support.  Their event information is up on their website www.Bigskyregion.com.  If you plan to attend they would appreciate you signing up as soon as possible.  Dave offered to loan them our scales and was planning to attend.  However, with the fuel prices going up so high, he isn’t sure he can afford it.   There was some discussion on getting the scales to them this next week.

Scheduling Questions:  The Board of Directors had some concerns about the attendance for the event over Labor Day at Lovelock: a Solo 2 event on Saturday 9/3 and a Club Trials on Sunday 9/4.  An email questionnaire suggests that attendance may be light but drivers are willing to stay all day so we can have fewer than four run groups.  Approximately ½ of the Solo 2 drivers indicated they “might” stay over and drive or work or observe the Club Trial on Sunday.  As a result, it was decided to continue the event as planned with the understanding that the Solo 2 run groups would not be decided until Saturday morning.

The scheduled October 8 “Fall Tour” and October 9 Club Trial at Lovelock was discussed.  Those that want to attend both events would have a hard time getting back from the “Fall Tour” in the Sierra to get to Lovelock the next day.  The decision was that we would have the October 8 “Fall Tour” to stay as scheduled and reschedule the Club Trial to a two event on October 15 & 16 at Lovelock.

Nominating Committee/ Region Officer Job Descriptions/2006 Reno Region Slate:  It is time to form a nominating committee for our 2006 officers.  Positions open are:  Regional Executive, Asst. RE, Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Director-Race, Activities Director-Solo and Director at Large.  If you are interested in participating on a nominating committee to fill the slate of officer or if you are interested in any of the positions please contact Dave at ddeborde@aol.com or 775-267-267-4845.  It was suggested to talk this up at the next event.

Year-end Trophies & Awards Banquet:  Looking for someone to do the Solo 2 Trophies and also someone to do the Trophies for Club Trials.  Please contact Dave if you are interested in helping in this way.   Dave will ask Dick & Annie Lewis to see if they are interested in being the Chair Persons for the Banquet.

NOTE:  Lucas & Sarah Kunze have volunteered to do Trophies for Solo2 and The Lewis’ will do the Banquet.

Walk on Items:  It is likely that Dean Benz and Scott Perry will not be able to attend the next event to run the Computer for T & S.  They will give a quick session on how to set up the equipment if anyone is interested.  Matt Roy and Mike Khamis will take responsibility to follow up and be at the event.

Dean Benz got the bid on an FM Transmitter on eBay.  He will work on setting it up in the very near future so that we will be able to tune to a radio station and be able to listen to the announcer on our radio at the event.  We Thank You Dean.

Not having any other business, Patty Evans motioned we adjourn it was unanimously passed. Meeting adjourned at 7:55pm

Respectfully submitted by Carol Deborde, acting secretary for Doug Driver.
