OLD BUSINESS
Minutes of prior meeting
Greg Benson moved to approve the minutes from the February 2, 2005 meeting; Carol DeBorde seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report
Matt Benson delivered the Treasurer’s report and distributed copies of the February 28, 2005 Cash Transactions report. Total cash available as of February 28th was $21,066. Jim Gandy inquired about the remaining “Subaru money.” Matt Roy responded that most of it was used to subsidize a Subaru track day, but some of the remaining funds might be available to help with a club event. Jim Gandy moved to approve the Treasurer’s report; Patty Evans seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Solo2 Run Group/Class Proposal
Lucas Kunze discussed the various run group proposals prepared by the conspicuously-absent Dean Benz. Dean did his best to prepare a grouping that will allow the Corvettes to run together. Novice and Run-No-Points (“RNP”) can run anytime and will be used to balance the run groups. After considerable discussion on the proposals, the members agreed on the following changes to the 2004 groupings:
Move SM to the Street Prepared group
Move SS to the Street Prepared group
Move CSP and ESP to the Stock group
Jim Uchytil moved to approve the motion to make the above changes; Eric Gangloff seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Novice cars can run in morning and afternoon events if we have enough participants. The Novices may also run in a regular run group if they wish. Novice participants will be allowed to convert up to four events from Novice into a regular class.
2005 Solo2 Event Chair Recruiting, Safety Steward Training, and Registration
Dave reminded the assembled members that we’re looking for event chairs. The following brave souls have volunteered:
April 2-3 School/Stead Jim Gandy
April 23-24 Stead Scott Perry and Matt Roy
May 14-15 Winnemucca John Evans and Tyson Kueper
June 25-26 Divisional/Stead Dave DeBorde and Doug Driver with Patty
Evans as Operating Steward
July 16-17 Stead Jim Uchytil and Mike Mulhall
August 13-14 Stead Lucas Kunze
September 3 Lovelock Jim Uchytil and Doug Driver
October 1-2 Stead Pat Housel
Dave reiterated that we need people in all positions for each event – including waivers, registration, safety steward etc.
Dick Lewis will most likely serve as safety steward for the school with Terri at registration, Pat Housel at tech, and Scott at timing.
John Evans volunteered to do the course design for the divisional.
Dave would like to continue using myautoevents.com for registration in an attempt to get as much pre-registration as possible.
The SFR-Reno Double National is scheduled for March 18-20. Eleven Reno members are currently signed up to work.
The annual training for safety stewards is scheduled for April 1st at 7:00 PM at the home of Dick and Annie Lewis. Please call Dick at 852-3969 and let him know if you plan on attending.
NEW BUSINESS
Supplemental Regulations
Dave reported that the board members reviewed the supplemental regulations by conference call on February 22nd. We will be able to eliminate considerable material that is redundant to the current national regulations. Dave highlighted the changes including:
· Bicycles will be allowed during course walking.
· Passengers will be allowed.
· There will be 4 drops or a 1:4 ratio, whichever is greater.
· You must be a Reno region member to receive a trophy.
· Dean Benz’s proposal for Novice classification will be adopted.
· Dean Benz’s proposal for RNP will be adopted.
Charles Marshall moved to approve the motion to make the above changes; John Evans seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Membership
Dave previewed the membership flyer that will be circulated and cautioned that any event promotional material must be posted 21 days prior to the event if it is sanctioned.
Solo2 School
Jim Gandy delivered a preview of the Solo2 school to be held April 2-3 at Stead. Saturday will be a beginner school and Sunday will be an intermediate school with different exercises each day. Courses will be run in the afternoon. Instructors will received free admission and a stylish T-shirt.
Time Trials
The new Time Trial regulations are posted on the SCCA national website in the Club Racing section. Dave reviewed the theory behind the changes to the Solo program, and he reviewed the four competitive levels.
The members went on to discuss the potential for a solo track event at Reno-Fernley. Eric expressed concern about the lack of runoff room at the track. Lee will investigate the financial feasibility.
Lee and Dave have signed up to be SCCA stewards. It is a two year training program. Dave is also sitting on the Time Trials Administrative Council.
Bus Clean Up
The annual bus clean-up party at the DeBorde’s home (2910 Santa Inez in Minden) will begin at the early hour of 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 12th.
Walk-On Items
Scott Perry displayed his ideas for the new logo design. There was no shortage of advice for Scott, so he politely listened and will be working on some enhancements to his designs.
The next general membership meeting is scheduled for April 6, 2005 at 6:30 PM at Austin’s Restaurant in Reno.
With no further business before the members, the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 PM.
Respectfully submitted by Doug Driver, Secretary.
