Old Business

Reg. Championship Solo 2 Event #10 & 11 @ Stead: Dave thanked Mike Mulhall and Jim Uchytil for the unique two-lap course  & minimal use of cones.  Mike K. confirmed he also thought the format of the course was great and fun event.  Larry Capen ‘s comments in the newsletter affirmed this statement.  Mike & Jim thanked those that helped set-up & take down.

Inaugural Solo Trials Results – School & Event #1:  Greg Benson reported those that attended all expressed they had a really great time on the 2.5 mile course.  Sat was the school & a real learning experience for everyone and on Sun. went much smoother.  Dave indicated that everyone treated the event with the respect it deserved: learned the course before trying to go for the speed.  Both Dave D & Mike K commented it was a relaxed event.  Lee M. commented that he had been at a Solo I event at the Northwest Region & they have been running events for a few year & had 24 entries and that we having 25 entries was a very good 1st show.  Jim Gandy had sent a very positive email to all indicating his appreciation & the fun he had @ our 1st event.

Financially SCCA is waiving the sanction fee this year because it is a new aspect for Reno racing; we do pay for a minimum of 40 cars for insurance; a donation to the Pershing County for the use of the airport; fire bottles & hay bails used for the corner workers.  (Mike M. said he could get 20# fire bottles when we are ready to purchase them.  Since we aren’t required to have all of the safety equipment on site it isn’t as expense.

New Business

Aug 7 & 8 Solo Trails Event #2 & #3 - Lovelock:  Greg Benson asked for a show of hands of those intending to come that hadn’t signed up already.  Everything is ready and there are rooms reserved at the Ramada Sturgeon’s Casino.

Aug 14 & 15 Points Event #12 & #13 - Stead:   Lucas Kunze & Jim Kunze & friend Roy are event chairs.  Only concern is getting the bus to Stead.  Will be setting up on Fri.  Lucas will take inventory of flour & water.  Dave asked if Lucas could get a copy of the course to a Steward for approval.

Sept 4 & 5 Points Event #14 & #15 – Lovelock:  Matt Benson & Jimmy Geck are event chairpersons.  They have blocked 40 rooms at Ramada Sturgeon’s Casino at $40.00/night + tax. Recommend call early as they plan to be full that weekend.  A banquet for Sat night  is planned at Sturgeon’s Restaurant.  See web site for details.

Road & Tach Newsletter Editor:  Christine Capen has volunteered to do our Newsletter.  (It should get back to the professional paper Jim Gandy had it heading for).  She would like articles by the Friday after the general meeting of the 1st Wed. of Month.  Will try to have it out by following week.   Thank you so much Christine.

2004 Awards Banquet:  It really is that time to start planning.  Dick & Annie Lewis have offered to Chair the evening again this year and would appreciate some people to help on the committee.

1 - Would like input on trophies – do we want to continue with new winners getting jackets and those that have them get a patch and something else

2 – What types of trophies?

3 – Where to have banquet?  Auto Museum (yes, consider), Amelia’s (not this year).  John Perry suggested Elks #597 – they have a banquet area. Lee Mitchell suggest a hanger at Stead & have it catered (they do it for air races).

4 – Start collecting door prizes

2005 Nor Pac Convention – Jan. 7-8-9: Dave informed us that this years Convention is hosted by the Oregon Region and will be at the Atlantis Casino.  Having technical programs will be continued this year as well ad administration session.  SCCA University will be available and at the same time frame Jay Morris of Ground Control will be presenting a longer seminar.  These are only a couple of seminars set-up to date.

The National Convention will be January 27-28 & 29, 2005 in Kansas.

Road Race Possibilities 2005:  There is a committee looking at How, When & If we can get into Road Race.  This year the Double National with SFR was well received by the drivers & provided SFR with a $20,000.00 profit & we received $1,000.00 for our contribution.  We should consider seriously getting move involved for 2005.  Lets keep this in mind and see what our budget is later this year.  Dave also suggested we might consider a Solo I and possible a Double Regional with SFR at Fernley for 2005.  As schedules fill quickly we will have to decide soon if we want to get involved.  Patty E.

Suggested we get some date for next meeting.

Walk on Items:

The SECCS (Subaru Club) is having an event Aug 29 at Fernley – cost $200.00 per person includes school, track time, lunch, & t-shirt.  Call Matt Roy for more details.

John Riggs, Jr. is planning an informal camping trip Aug 20 @ Frenchman’s Camp.

Let him know if your are interested.

Dave D is planning to go to Solo Nat’ls. & has a seat available in his 280Z AP if anyone is interested in driving it.  He & Carol are going onto Run Offs to work the races.  Call Dave if interested in going to the Nationals & drive the car.

John Perry reported that Bill Flagg, a SFR/Sacramento member, is in intensive care for a major aneurysm.  He is at Mercy San Juan Hospital, 6501 Coyle Room #4220, Carmichael, CA.  He would appreciate hearing from us.

Dave reported that he & Carol had gone to see Big Al today. He is at home & doing very well – up and about.  They have gone out to dinner & entertain friends visits. He is taking Radiation & Kemo treatments, not getting sick and even putting on weight.  He plans to attend & work an event in Sept at Thunderhill.  He’s doing something right!

Last report on Doug Hall was he is doing well, but very bored.  Just keep improving!

Jim U asked if this Solo Trials event will be the last for the season.  Greg said that maybe they could plan another one before end of year.

Moved to adjourn by Charles M., Joanne K. 2nd.  Meeting adjourned at 7:50pm

Respectfully submitted by:  Carol Deborde, Secretary
