January 7, 2004

Meeting was called to order by Dave Deborde at 6:37pm

 

Secretary Report:  Patty Evans moved we accept minutes. Joanne Kapic 2nd . Motion carried.

 

Treasurer Report: Patty reported a beginning balance of $11.760.38; deposits received $5,698.52 (mainly received from NorPac Registrations); expenses paid out of $1,272.81;

New balance $16,186.09.  The two CD’s are due in May & June.  John Perry moved to accept Treasurers report, Jim Uchytil 2nd, motioned carried.

 

Old Business

Club Charter Renewal Submitted: Dave reported that he has filled out and submitted Reno Region renewal Club Charter with SCCA.

 

2004 NorPac Convention Update:  To date we have 138 registered including the presenters.  We have a few Ad invoices outstanding.  The committee expects to take in apx. $19,000.00 with registrations, ads and proceeds from Silent Auction and pay out apx. $18,000.00.  The committee has lined up three technical programs; six other seminars to include, race, rally & solo II interests.  Gary Patterson of Shelby America will speak at the Saturday Night Social.  Loren Enstad & Jim Payne have completed a Treasure Hunt Game for the convention attendees.  Dave thanked them both for the time & effort getting the game together.  We have several members signed up and will be helping with the convention.  Dave thanked all those planning to attend.

 

National Directory Update Submitted:  Dave submitted the new Reno Region officers & directors to be published in the National Directory.

 

New Business

Introduction/Welcome 2004 Officers:  Dave Deborde, RE; Eric Gangloff, Asst. RE; Carol Deborde, Secretary; Matt Benson, Treasurer; Greg Benson, Activities Director – Race; John Riggs, III, Activities Director – Solo; John Riggs, Jr., Director, Dean Benz, Director, Jim Uchytil, Director; Jim Gandy, Editor; John & Patty, Membership; Scott Perry, Time & Scoring; Pat Housel & Lee Mitchell, Tech; Debbie Kerswill, Registration. Dave welcomed them.

 

John Perry asked if there was any way to get a new Reno directory.  Eric said he created a data base and could put together another directory.  He will be doing one in the near future.

 

Dean asked for information of new officers for update on the website – Dave will get the list to him that he mail to SCCA National.

 

Proposed 2004 Event Schedule; Solo I, Solo II, HPCCC & Double National Race: A tentative schedule was passed our & there was some discussion. He has given the dates to Stead Airport for their calendar. For purpose of points – 1 drop for every 4 events.  Would like to move Winnemucca to May 8 & 9. Dave hopes to confirm the program this week after the NorPac Convention working with the changes discussed.

 

Event Chair sign-ups:  Dave asked everyone to think about the events they would like to chair.  The response was overwhelming, all event chairs were filled within minutes.  Dave thanked everyone for their enthusiasm.

Snake River hosts the Winnemucca Solo2 this year and Reno hosts the North-South Challenge (Dean will be event chair).  Jim Gandy, Dean Benz and Dave Deborde will do the Drivers School in April.

Reno is co-host with San Francisco Region for the Double National March 19, 20 & 21.  Dave asked for members to Please be sure to plan and help at this event if at all possible.

 

Event Sanction Requests:  Greg Benson will be turning them in this month.

 

Proposed Supplementary Regulations – Review & Discuss, Adopt Final Version in Jan/Feb 2004:  Dave passed out Supps to vote on.  After discussion, Dean Benz made a motion to accept the proposed supplementary regulation changes as submitted; John Evans 2nd. Motion carried

 

National Convention – Region Compensation Request:  Dave asked for the club to reimburse his expenses to attend the National Convention up to $500.00.  Patty Evans moved it should be upped to at least $750.00.  It was seconded and passed unanimously.

Dave has also requested a medium sized region rebate of $200.00 from National.

He suggested that everyone take a look at the National Website for a peek at what the seminars are going to be and invited anyone interested to join him at the convention in February.

 

February Meeting: Dave will be in Kansas at the Convention on the regular meeting date.  Eric said he could handle the meeting and Patty Evans volunteered to take minutes.  The February meeting will be the regular date.  Dave implied that the meeting will be mainly Greg Benson’s dealing with the schedule.

 

Walk on Items:  Patio Brick – National Office.  Agreed to use RENO, the Biggest Little Region” as suggest by Patty Evans.

Solo I Program:  Jim Gandy offered his care for rent to participate for Solo I Novice Licence and Solo I School

Radio: John Riggs, Jr. is still looking into the purchase of new radios and a clip mic for announcer.

Newsletter: Jim Gandy proposed not to have a newsletter until March just before the events start.  Dave D. suggested we do a small one in February to advertise what is coming up and anything else that needs to be noted.

Bus: Dave D. will pick up the bus in the next few weeks to look at the brakes & fix them.
