Old Business

Awards Banquet: Dave thanked Dick & Annie Lewis for Chairing the Awards Banquet again this year.  He also thanked Carol for handling the awards/trophies.  Dave asked if anyone had comments regarding the Amelia’s Restaurant where we held the Banquet.  Next year we need a microphone (hard to hear).  Ran out of turkey.  We had added a few extra people at the door – maybe the restaurant was prepared for extras.

General consensus was Amelia’s was a good place for our banquet.

2004 NorPac Convention Update: The committee is working on finishing up loose ends.  The registration cut off is Dec. 8 and we have a total of 71 registrations – we have set a 100 paid minimum to be close to breaking even on the expenses.  If you haven’t registered, we need you there.  There is a good range of topics and speakers and we have some speakers thanks to B J Filarski.  Jim Gandy is going to help Carol publish the program.  We are hoping to get some last minute ads that will help with the costs.  If you or anyone you know would want to help the club by placing an ad – please let us know ASAP.  Dave thanked Patty Evans for keeping the Registration updated on the website.

New Business

2004 Proposed Schedule:  Dave D. thanked Doug Driver, Lee Mitchell and Loren Endstead for helping at the Western States Shootout at Thunderhill.  They experienced working a Road Race.  Both Doug & Loren  worked Flagging & Communications and Lee worked Tech.   San Francisco Region was happy to have our workers join them.  Any experience gained by our members will be a help when we co-host the Double National Race with San Francisco Region tentatively scheduled for March 2004. There are a few things that have to be cleared before it will be final.  Dave & Greg Benson prepared a tentative schedule for 2004 for Solo II, Solo Time Trails, & HPCCC events.  Copies were handed out.  After discussion it was agreed that we should have 17 Solo events in 2004.  July 26 the Western States Corvette Council has an event at Stead and we can use Stead on Sat., July 25.  Dean Benz suggested that we use this date for a mid year Driver School – giving us two schools in 2004.

Dave & Greg met with Skip at Stead Airport and he offered his conference room to hold Driver School in.

Greg gave an explanation of what the requirements for a Solo Trial were and how to get a Solo I License.

After some discussion about Solo I it was agreed to continue moving in that direction.  We still need to get special concessions but will continue with the plans.

The plan is to use Lovelock Airport to do some of the Solo Trial events.  We will have to buy flags and learn how to use them.

Dave has another meeting with Skip at Stead on 12/5 to finalize the 2004 schedule.

By-Laws Amendment: To restructure the existing Activities Director position into Activities Director-Solo/Rally and create an Active Director-Race Position.   Amendment passed.

2004 Election of Officers: Dave Deborde, Regional Executive; Eric Gangloff, Asst. Regional Executive; Carol Deborde, Secretary; Greg Benson, new Race Activity Director; John Riggs, III, new Solo 2 Activity Director; Jim Uchytil, one year term Director at Large; Dean Benz, two year Director at Large.  Congratulations to the newly elected directors.  Dave thanked Patty for her years of service as Treasurer.  He thanked B.J. for running as Director.  It is great to have people willing to help serve.

Patty and John are taking over the Membership responsibilities from Eric.  Scott Perry will be taking over the Timing & Scoring from Eric.

Proposed Supplementary Regulations: Reviewed & discussed the changes Dave Deborde proposed.  A copy will be emailed to members.  Adoption and changes to final version to be at January, 2004 meeting.

Walk On Items

Paver Bricks for National Office: Patty Evans asked if Reno was interested in buying a brick for a patio at the new facility in Topeka, KA.  It was unanimously agreed the club would purchase one brick for $100.00.  We are to have ideas on what the brick will say for the January meeting.

The SCCA display at the San Francisco Car Show was very impressive.  Dave had talked to R.J. Gordy and he told him they had 55 cars on display plus the Solo group had dioramas showing all aspects of a Solo 2 event.  Had a lot of potential new members.

Jim Gandy thanked Carol D. for checking the membership list and discovered that Gordon Harris has been an SCCA member in Reno since November 1952.  She put a note with his Road & Tach and Gordon called and Jim discovered he is filled with so much knowledge about the Club.  Jim will have a lot of ‘old club’ information coming up in the Road & Tach.

BJ Filarski moved we adjourn; Greg Benson seconded.  Meeting adjourned at 8:05pm

Respectfully submitted by: Carol Deborde, Secretary
