Rally Cross: Matt Decker was not present. Dave reported that Matt and a couple of people went to a rally cross at Thunderhill with San Francisco Region to check out how it works. He plans to try & put one in the near future in our area.
Reno Solo II Divisional: Dave reported that most of the Chief positions have been filled. Need an Impound Chief and acquire a weight scale. BJ indicated he had one but set up for larger car.
Dave discussed the duties of the Impound Chief. The Chief accepts protest applications that will go to the Steward; confirms contingency stickers for sponsors that have asked us to do so; sees that cars that need to be weighed are????). Pat Housel said he would help in Impound if needed.
The sups for the Divisional are on the Website – they are adapted for this event only. Edy got the Reno Hilton Hotel & RV reservations set up that is good through June 11. The information is on the Website along with some other hotels and RV facilities available in the area. Carol has contacted the Convention Center & will be putting together the information packets. Carol has the Welcome Party Friday night somewhat planned. We would like to use Dean Benz tents for the Welcome Party & for the weekend – to use during registrations and a place to stay cool. Carol contact a company that will do trophies and should have them here by end of June. Dave thanked Dean & Debbie for the support & help in getting the Website up for the Divisional.
Timing & Scoring Chief will be Don Miller, Snake River and would appreciate help from the Reno Region. Eric volunteered but will still need more volunteers. Let Dave know if you may be interested. Open to Jr. Kart up to 12yr olds. & will being using the full course.
Mike Kapic asked if Dave has gotten the audit forms – they are being emailed to Dave.
There was some discussion about getting barricades to set up around the course so we wouldn’t have to take it down Sat. night. May be too expensive.
Logo Pins: Carol proposed to purchase 500 lapel pins with checker & American flag & Reno log on them. These to be used at the Divisional in their packets; for our members; and for the NORPAC Convention. BJ Filarski moved we order the pins and Dick Lewis seconded. Passed unanimously.
Jr. Kart Program: John Riggs, III - nothing to report.
Road Race Program: Greg Benson reported that some people have already driven on the trace at Fernley. Discussion from those present that had been on the track. Generally opinion was that the track is narrow & the paddock not really big enough. There are two events planned for July & August for NASA. The event schedule will be posted soon.
Event Chairpersons - Review: Eric indicated there was only one event in need of a chairperson. Dave said he would fill it if there was no one else. It is for Hawthorn in September. Boral is to be chaired by Sid & Dave. Eric went to Boral to check & see if it had been paved. He reported it has not been paved & is worse that last year! Recommends we do not have an event there. After some discussion about different places to replace this event the following was decided. Mike Mulhal moved we start process of approval for auto cross course.
Dave will look into using Fernley and contact area Chief Steward to find out the what needs to be done about the track in order for us to use the facility.
John Evans informed us that Lovelock Subdivision has some space available to run an event he and John Perry will go to check it out and get back to us. Winnemucca is out because of the fire season.
Single Car Challenge: Edy spoke to Snake River members about a challenge they held last year to get some information about how it works and if it would be feasible to do here. Would require more insurance and the event fee will be more expensive. One day use one type of car and second day use another car. Have trophies for 1, 2, 3 place for both men & women. It’s a possibility for next year and he will continue to collect information.
Events June 7 & 8: Greg & Chuck Tishler will chair the event and could use help setting up on Friday afternoon. Eric, Jimmy Geck, John Riggs, III, John Evans & Dave will be available to help. A party at Flowing Tide on Sat. after the event is planned for all participants that want to come.
Events 28& 29: John Riggs, III is chairing the Big Little Challenge. It will be run similar to last year but not two courses.
Walk on Items:
Dean Benz presented a new Registration procedure for computer procedures. Had all present sign the form at the meeting tonight to let us see how it will work. It should be efficient and helpful.
John Perry asked if we could get another monitor to be used outside the buss for announcer. Dean already has got more monitors and the system is set up to handle 3 monitors; timing, announcing and registration.
Edy brought up that Kip suggested that Furlong Ammunition Base may be available to use for an event. It is up near Susanville. They will check it out and get back to us.
Edy motioned to adjourn and BJ seconded.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm
Respectfully submitted by: Carol Deborde, Secretary
