Old Business:

The Reno Solo2 schedule for 2003 was handed out. A letter has been submitted to Stead for the dates and they have them on the calendar. Haven’t gotten a confirmation about the July 4 Divisional Solo 2.  If we don’t hold the Divisional, considering doing another drivers school.  Reno Rally is scheduled for April 5-6.  They are planning to use roads on the Reno-Fernley Raceway property and roads at Stead Airport.  Reno Region is not planning any involvement.  Jessica from the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, called to see if Reno would participate in a Car Show and would we like to tie it in with something at the airport.  Dave will contact other clubs to see if they might be interested and when would be a good date.  We might be interested for April, June or Aug depending on what is proposed.

There was discussion on the number of drops this year with a 20 event 2003 regional championship series. Proposed 1 drop for every 3 events.  Agree on number of drops and stick to it.  If number of events change revert back to supps.

NORPAC Convention status discussed.  Having some problems with the Subaru dealer and it’s possible we won’t be able to get a WRX for show.  Committee will meet for breakfast on Sat about 8:00 am in the Purple Parrot.  Dave asked Dick Lewis and Pat Housel to help with the Tech Forum that he is doing at the Convention.

NEW Business:

Brian Hunt, Northern Nevada Regional Director, N.A.S.A was introduced to give us an overview of their program and inform us that they have scheduled at the Reno-Fernley Raceway.  The dates are July 19-20 for High Performance track day; and Aug 8-9-10 for Pro event & track day; also one day at Thunderhill

for track day.  Brain asked if we could put a link to N.A.S.A.’s web site.  Dave felt there would be a conflict of interest with SCCA since N.A.S.A. is in direct competition with the SCCA in several venus. Dave felt that advertising N.A.S.A. on our web site or in our newsletter is inappropriate.  However, there is nothing to stop individual SCCA members from participating in N.A.S.A events.

Supplementary Regulations – went over the regulations and made corrections and changes.  There was discussion on the PAX number of trophies.  Decision is to use the ratio of awards to competitors specified in the supps up to a maximum of four awards for 8 or more competitors. John Perry had asked in Dec about 3 proposals and Eric brought them up again.  1) Giving seniors preference assignments if they so desire.  Dave indicated that we are doing this already and it shouldn’t have to be written in supps.  2) Disallow drivers as passengers if the passenger will be competing later. After much discussion it was pointed out that the Solo II Rules do not permit passengers. Eric and Dean will draft a supplementary regulation to allow passengers at Reno Region Solo II events provided  the passenger, if also a competitor, must have already completed his/her competitive runs.  3) Reduced afternoon pink card runs to $10 for SCCA members and $20 for non-members if they have also paid the entry fee for that event. Drivers who wish to “pink card” but not enter in the competition must pay the normal entry fee. It was decided to redefine Tech Inspection times and the Drivers meeting times and include in supps. Eric to revise supps and submit for review at the February meeting and approval at the March meeting.

Road Course activities – Greg & Dave will be schedule an exploratory meeting with people from the area interested in road racing.  Discussed the Thunderhill High Performance Drivers School dates. 2003 scheduled dates are: 1/26; 2/15; 4/19; 7/25; 9/28; 11/15 & 11/30.

BJ, Greg & Dave visited Reno-Fernley Raceway. They met with owner, Rich Cable and reviewed build progress and proposed paving schedule. Rich plans on having the paddock area and drag strip paved by March at the latest and the first mile or mile and one half of the road course ready for use by May 2003. Rich would like to have us involved at the track and will make the paddock area available to us for autocross.  He also hopes we will find a way to use the road course for a HPDS or Solo I event.

Road & Tach – Jim would like to get our paper out on the following dates: 3/14, 4/20, 5/20, 6/20, 7/14, 8/20, 9/14, 10/7 & 11/7.  Will try to get one out earlier to report on the NORPAC Convention by mid Feb.

Lockett & Sullivan Boat Show on Feb 6-7-8-9.  It will cost us about $250 for a 10 x 10 space.  We would need about 2 spaces.  There is not a special rate for non-profit orgs.  Took a vote to see if we wanted to do it and if so who would chair it.  Passed, but couldn’t find a chairperson.  Defeated.

Reno Region Decals & Patches – Mike Mulhall will build a file and will have info by next meeting.

Web Site – Chris D is unable to continue.  Dean volunteered to take over as webmaster for our site.

Schedule cards for Solo II 2003 Season – Edy volunteered to get a 3-fold wallet card.

Time cards – Eric asked if he could get rid of the time cards from 2000 & 2001.  All agreed he could.

Walk on business:

Motorist Right Group – Herrmann had a brochure from the National Motors Assoc. and wanted to know if Club or anyone interested and if could put on web site.  Dave felt it inappropriate to advertise this on our web site but interested individuals should contact Herrmann.

Motion to adjourn made and approved.  Respectfully submitted, Carol Deborde, Secretary
